On a hike around the Peitlerkofel, a striking peak on the northern edge of the Dolomites, in bright sunshine at the beginning of October we experienced both the first snow of the season and brilliant larches in their autumn colors.

Auf einer Wanderung um den Peitlerkofel, ein markanter Gipfel am Nordrand der Dolomiten, erlebten wir Anfang Oktober bei strahlendem Sonnenschein sowohl den ersten Schnee für diese Saison als auch leuchtende Lärchen im Herbstkleid.

Now if you ever want to visit a really ancient and spooky woods, you'd be hard placed to find a place to beat like this...even when you look into the depths of it from the foot path it's pitch black...and l'm not joking...It's a place you wouldn't want venture anywhere near during the hours of darkness.

Oh...this shot was taken as we entered the forest, hence it being so light further into the forest at this point.

Taken on a unforgetable walk in February, together with my wife and our three dogs.

first foggy day this Autumn

So this photo was taken almost exactly a year ago. I've owned caravans for over 10 years in Argyll but last year was the first that I owned a caravan situated in a site that was open during the winter. This was one of my first winter walks in Argyll ... and what a walk! And at the end of it a pub ... the Whistlefield Inn ... for a wee winter warmer. Unfortunately, due to Lockdown restrictions this year, this is a walk that I am unlikely to repeat this winter :(

This time 2 years ago we had similar winter weather to the current one. Unfortunately, a lot of deforestation has recently occurred in this area of ​​the forest, so this picture above is no longer possible.
