A horn crowned sentinel rises from the forest’s breath, armored in gold filigree and dusk forged resolve. Her wings unfurl like ancient decrees, casting shadow and omen across the moss lit clearing. She is neither villain nor savior, but the hinge between worlds — the one who remembers the old pacts and enforces the forgotten laws.

This portrait captures the moment before judgment, when the sword lowers and the forest holds its breath, awaiting the verdict of a queen carved from myth and midnight.

I.

She steps from the hush of the green veiled deep,

Where roots whisper names the sky cannot keep.

Her wings are decrees from an age before flame,

Her sword is the ledger that remembers each name.

II.

Gold sigils shimmer like vows on her skin,

A covenant etched where the wild begins.

The forest leans close, as if eager to hear

The verdict she carries from far older spheres.

III.

Her horns curve like crescents of unbroken night,

Twin crescents that anchor her sovereign right.

She is the hinge where the dusk meets the dawn,

The keeper of balance when boundaries are drawn.

IV.

No tyrant, no martyr, no creature of spite—

She governs the shadows that temper the light.

Her presence is law in its purest design,

A justice that predates the concept of time.

V.

The mist gathers round her in reverent folds,

A choir of breath from the moss covered old.

They rise in devotion, in fear, in respect,

For she is the force they cannot reject.

VI.

Her blade hums softly with memory’s weight,

A chronicle forged at the threshold of fate.

It sings of the fallen, the faithful, the lost,

Of choices made sacred by consequence and cost.

VII.

Yet mercy still lingers in the tilt of her gaze,

A warmth that survives through the darkest of days.

For power means nothing without the restraint

To cradle the fragile, to pardon the faint.

VIII.

So she stands in the clearing, a myth made of breath,

A sovereign who governs both life and its death.

And the forest, eternal, bows low in reply—

For even the wild must honor the sky.

En aquest cas els colors dels arbres van captivar-me i no vaig poder resistir a buscar alguna composició. Amb el teleobjectiu posat era qüestió de buscar algun patró que m’agrades, i al veure aquest conjunt d’arbres que he col·locat a la cantonada inferior esquerra i veient el color que quedava a la resta de la foto vaig veure-ho clar.

A Nubia Fairy stands radiant in the twilight grove, wings aglow with ancient circuitry and soft celestial fire. She is both guardian and wanderer—an emissary of mythic realms where technology and spirit intertwine. Her presence bends the forest’s breath, calling dormant magic awake. Light gathers at her wand’s tip like a whispered prophecy, and the world around her shifts into a dreamscape of wonder, ancestry, and power. She is the bridge between realms—elegant, fierce, and eternal.

I.

In the hush of the grove where the dusk-light sings,

She rises—golden pulse beneath obsidian skin.

A Nubia Fairy crowned in ancestral flame,

Carrying the hush of forgotten worlds within.

II.

Her wings hum softly with the memory of stars,

Etched in patterns older than the forest’s bones.

Every shimmer a scripture of cosmic design,

Every flutter a hymn the universe intones.

III.

She walks between timelines with barefoot grace,

A keeper of echoes, a sculptor of fate.

Her wand glows violet with the breath of dawn,

Unraveling shadows the night tried to create.

IV.

The trees lean inward to honor her stride,

Leaves trembling like worshippers in sacred trance.

Even the wind pauses to witness her glow,

As moonbeams gather to join her dance.

She is myth reborn in luminous form,

A whisper of thunder wrapped in gentle light.

Her presence bends the silence of the grove,

Turning ordinary dusk into enchanted night.

Legends cling to her silhouette like dew,

Stories rising from the soil beneath her feet.

She is the promise carved into ancient stone,

Where destiny and dream forever meet.

Her gaze holds galaxies waiting to bloom,

Constellations stirring behind her eyes.

She carries the weight of a thousand realms,

Yet moves like a secret carried by the skies.

So remember her name when twilight calls,

The Nubia Fairy who guards the unseen.

There is a secret (ish) little nook in Hartsholme Park where the light is consistently magic...maybe the place really is?

Yesterday morning was no different, illuminating the twisting Rhododendrons whilst the light delicately picked out the textures and burls on the trunk of a Corsican Pine.

Hello again my dear flickr friends. Thank you ever so much for all you wonderful comments. They are always a delight to read with great appreciation.

I hope you had a wonderful week and are adjusting to the upcoming autumn just like me.

And yes as you can see I am still not out of the woods yet (not in my mind and photos anyway lol). And I hope you are not bored with the forest shots yet. I know there are quite a number of these shots (as I like to create the forest scene on my flickr page too) so please only comment on any photos that might appeal to you the most.

For any poem followers, below is a poem - which I had initially intended to find on the internet (as opposed to writing it myself). However, the one I came across didn't quite suit this image

(ref:http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/on-the-red-carpet/ ) So I used its general outline to make up my own version of it below. It's not my favourite but I hope someone will like it lol .

I step into the autumn forest gateway

Welcoming red carpet of leaves all the way

Sun softly beaming through revealingly clad branches

Birds singing autumns tunes

With apprehensive delight I walk each precious step in line and all attune.

Each step warmly greeted by the earthy scent of leaves and barks and privileged forest sights

With open arms I twirl joyfully gazing up to the dizzying forest heights.

I see applauding, dancing and singing audience of birds, squirrels and even green and amber leaves.

Their smiles of eagerness. Like fans striving for celeb. attention, photo memorabilias and autographs to receive.

Is this my 15 minutes of fame.? ... I ask.. in my mind...

Smiling, waving, blowing kisses back, I reciprocate the warm welcome reserved for the celebrity kind .

Each glorious moment a magical dream - like floating on etheral wings.

It must be said - the golden glory of autumns throne is truly a special thing.

My hike continued into Woodlands Valley, an area I'd never been to before. The path ran along the edge of the forest which steeply climbed up the hillside to my left, a steep drop off to my right providing a view down into the valley and the tail-end of Ladybower reservoirs western fork.

I eventually reached Haggwater Bridge, the river Ashop flowing underneath lined with old growth woodland. This is a departure in terms of subject for me and also the way the scene is composed, normally I'd avoid such a big void in the middle of frame, but I think it works with the context.

I’ve never felt smaller—in the best way—than I did walking through the old-growth redwoods in Northern California. These trees are over 2,000 years old. Just let that sink in. They were here before cities, before roads, before so much of what we think of as “history.”

There’s a quiet here that feels sacred. The way the light filters through the canopy, the smell of damp earth and moss, the sheer scale of everything—it hits you in a deep, almost ancient part of yourself.

It’s not just a forest. It’s a reminder of how young we are, and how lucky we are to witness something so timeless.
