Visit to the Forest Moon IX3244-A better known as Endor.

That's when I met Wicket Wystri Warrick.

Very cute the little one and he was also very friendly.

The landscape of the moon consists mainly of forests that are home to the Ewoks.

as well as savannas and mountains, only 8% of the moon is covered with waters.

The gas giant serves as a sun for the forest moon because it reflects the light from the two stars Endor 1 and Endor 2.

In addition to the Ewoks, who live in tribal tree villages, the bear-like Gorax also live in the forest and Yuzzums in the Savans of the Moon.

The Gorax are not so friendly, you better avoid them.

At the Yuzzums.. you could set up a Rock band with them.

May the Force be with you... ✌️

Another catch obtained of barred owlets at Ft. Snelling State Park - Minnesota. Think they might have just caught sight of mom owl at this particular moment!

In the dense rainforest, a long-tailed macaque sits quietly on a branch, cracking open a coconut.

This behavior is common among wild macaques, who have learned to use their hands skillfully to access food.

Surrounded by damp earth, moss-covered rocks, and filtered light, the monkey takes its time — alert, yet calm.

Moments like this show how deeply adapted these primates are to their forest environment, relying on both instinct and intelligence to survive.

I'm back home after a brief (ten days) trip through the Canadian Rockies. It seems appropriate, therefore, to open with this shot of a Canada Jay, formerly called "Gray Jay", often referred to by its nickname, Whiskey Jack. I can't begin to recount all the times a visit from the local Whiskey Jacks has brightened my campsites or provided company along a mountain trail - even if they do steal food at every opportunity. Wild critters tend to be opportunists - not unlike photographers.

Lots more to come in all the main categories of nature photography: wildlife, landscape, macro. And I hope to catch up on the work of my flickr-friends over the next few days.

Fifteen days...

School/finals end this Monday, so once that happens I'll actually have the time to plan and execute lots of concepts :) So excited about that!

My mom and I went out to shoot this afternoon and were basically inundated by inchworms, they were falling from EVERYWHERE.

Photographed at the San Francisco Zoo with background texture from Jai Johnson.

family trip out today saw us at a well known spot for red squirrels ,after a bit of persuasion i got the guardian of the bag of peanuts to spread some about ,the result was virtually instanteneous with two of these lovely reds playing in front of us a mere few feet away .my first time for these so i,m well pleased despite the exceedingly hard shooting conditions

The barred owl gets its name from the distinct horizontal barring pattern on its chest and belly. These markings resemble bars or stripes, hence the name

Shout out to ForestDweller for the awesome idea for these bags she shared for last year’s con!

The chief of this particular village who belong to the Tompuon tribe. They live in a village in the forest near Ban Lung in Ratanakiri Province. Until very recently they didn't wear clothes and they have no written language.

The Tompuon people inhabit the hills of the northeastern corner of Cambodia. They are mostly farmers, living a more-or-less subsistence level lifestyle. Their main crops are rice (grown in swidden fields), various fruit and vegetables; cashews are now becoming a popular cash-crop. They follow an animistic religion, dominated by fear of evil spirits and various sacrifices. Except for a few living in villages close to the provincial capital, most Tompuons do not have a good knowledge of Khmer. The Tompuons' traditional lifestyle is endangered by rampant land grabbing on the part of lowland Khmer.

Overnight, very

Whitely, discreetly,

Very quietly

Our toes, our noses

Take hold on the loam,

Acquire the air.

Spruce grouse (Falcipennis canadensis). Thanks for all the kind words and comments on my last post concerning my worry over my daughter. Happy to report she is doing much better. Since I have been feeling mother hennish I thought I would post this shot of a grouse I encountered during a bike ride. Her brood all flew and hid in the woods while she kept a look out.
