Prelude to a fondling (Mermaid Parade 2009, Coney island NY)

1961 Chevrolet Corvette

Chassis No. 10867S103251

By 1961, the Corvette had evolved into a very credible sports car. Styling was carefully updated under GM design chief Bill Mitchell with a subtle new grille design, while the new rear end treatment foreshadowed the upcoming Sting Ray with a neat ducktail design incorporating four cylindrical taillights. In addition, the growing list of standard equipment now included a tachometer, seat belts, sun visors, dual exhaust, carpeting, an electric clock, outside rearview mirror and an aluminum radiator.

This brawny 1961 Corvette displays an older, yet very well presented resto-mod refinish in silver and white side coves over black interior upholstery. A white vinyl top, cowl hood, vintage Firestone Firehawk radials, steel wheels and chrome wheel covers complete the presentation.

Cabin amenities include a tachometer, clock, defroster, AM/FM radio with premium sound system, and Hurst t-handle shifter. The car’s small-block V8 engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission provides more than enough power to get this vette up and going in a hurry!

The older restoration has begun to show its age in areas, but remains well suited for continued use as an attention grabbing weekend cruiser. This Corvette is sure to please its new owner with a great combination of timeless styling, performance and modern upgrades.

Dream Cars Atlanta

High Museum of Art, Atlanta

This major exhibition of innovative automotive design will bring together 17 concept cars from across Europe and the U.S., including some of the rarest and most imaginative cars designed by Ferrari, Bugatti, General Motors and Porsche. Dream Cars will feature cars from the early 1930s to the 21st century that pushed the limits of imagination and foreshadowed the future of design. The exhibition will pair conceptual drawings, patents and scale models with realized cars, demonstrating how their experimental designs advanced ideas of progress and changed the automobile from an object of function to a symbol of future possibilities.

What goes around comes around. the fallen tree was foreshadowing

I have found Shadow's behavior changes remarkable. Since Casper's death, Shadow has adopted many of the traits that Casper exhibited, but that he was [formerly] too catly to possess.

Casper used to wake me up every morning, then be a noisy nuisance until he was fed. Shadow would waltz in as I was setting the plates down, the beneficiary of Casper's rude behavior. Shadow doesn't wake me, but he does walk on me before the alarm goes off, and is meowing as I stagger to the kitchen. I reckon it's just a matter of time until he wakes me.

Casper used to curl up in my right armpit when I laid in bed. Now Shadow has been laying atop me until he is shooed off by Jamie.

And, salient to this photo, Casper used to sit and stare at the geckos on the windows. Shadow never seemed to be bothered to notice them. Tonight, I found him sitting and staring at the geckos, just as Casper did.

In a way, it is fun to see Shadow doing new things at his old age (he's... 12? 13?). But too, he reminds me of Casper, and I feel the loss anew. Having a Shadowy Casper is fun and sad, both.

Anyways, HBW!

All the colors of the rainbow (this is actually some foreshadowing)

Day Three; the nightmare hasn’t ended.

The day started early again as the first of the skiffs arrived at 06:51am, followed by the others, full of trainers, by 07:00am. The boats drove straight through the pod; a scene that would foreshadow the rest of the day.

By 07:35, during the first of the group selections, a young dolphin thrashed itself so hard against the side of the skiff that it bled. 3 days without food, left in the freezing cold and shallow water, these dolphins were frightened and exhausted.

We noted the first 2 skiffs leaving with 2 dolphins each at 09:21am. They were slung up onto the sides of the boats and dragged through their family, away to their morbid new “home,” alone, hungry and scared. The skiffs continued to plough straight over the families as they were frantically thrashing.

At 11:19am, 3 very small baby dolphins were put into slings and dragged past their frantic mothers, taking the abduction count up to 41 over the past 2 days of selection. There was horrific sights of trainers separating a mother and baby as the mother dove head-first toward the skiff in order to be by her child. The laughing and talking from the trainers rang out through the cove as we watched a complete decimation of a family unravel before our eyes. We were watching a mother’s worst nightmare. We were watching a helpless being have her only friend and companion torn from her.

The hunters took a moment for lunch before resuming, stealing another 6 small bodies for slave labour at around 1pm. At 1:46pm, the last of the babies were stolen for the day, taking the total count up to 53; that was 30 yesterday and another 23 today.

The process of assessing, marking, terrorising and torturing continued until we noticed the tarps start to be withdrawn at around 2:30pm

Another 7 gruelling, nightmarish hours saw the end to the third day. Unfortunately, we are sad to announce that the process isn’t over. The - once - super pod of 200 dolphins will spend yet another night netted into the cove, awaiting scrutiny and invasion of their sacred bodies and that of their children’s, before either being rejected as “not beautiful enough,” or abducted for their profitability potential.

This is all done in the name of marine park revenue. Aquariums, zoos and marine parks alike who keep once wild animals, all play a part in the horrific, six-monthly dolphin hunt that occurs here in Taiji. The captive industry is responsible for the heartache of mothers having their babies dragged away in front of their own eyes. The captive industry is responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths of innocent animals. The captive industry is responsible for the decimation of the ocean’s diverse and rich ecology. Say no to marine park tickets. Animals behind glass didn’t wilfully give up their free lives.

Akron Children’s Hospital held its 32nd annual Holiday Tree Festival Nov. 23 to Dec. 1 at the John S. Knight Center. The Holiday Tree Festival Preview Gala foreshadows the festival. The Preview Gala took place on Nov. 22 this year.

The central guideline of National Socialist politics in the field of culture was the exclusion of Jewish artists, which had been foreshadowed in Germany since 1933 by a series of bureaucratic measures: compulsory membership in the relevant chambers of the Reich Chamber of Culture as an unconditional occupational requirement, while rejecting "non-Aryans"; Total political supervision of the speech and music theater, but also of the literature and publishing company as well as the film production by the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda under the direction of Joseph Goebbels.

Politically "unreliable and unsuitable" such as communists, socialists, anti-National Socialist conservatives, religious activists and homosexuals were also eliminated "as parasites of culture". At the same time, the high culture enterprise was to be instrumentalized for the establishment of power, whereby ultimately no new "essentially German" ("blood and soil") cultural movement was created, but the bourgeois classic care (excluding the heritage of dead and living Jewish artists) was forced ,

It sufficed to document the regime's sizes, both internally and abroad, that the apparently revolutionary Nazi regime was following in the footsteps of bourgeois and monarchist rulers. The involvement of the Nazis in the entertainment industry was even more intense, especially in the film, in which the "Vienna Film" with productions full of flat operetta bliss continued to prosper. Entertainment was a psychologically staged attempt to distract from political repression and massive racist persecution. For the time being, artists - with few exceptions of resistance - quickly joined the new political system, partly because the conditions of work and production were much better than in times of high unemployment due to increased state expenditure.

Political seizure was usually opposed only in the private sector and isolated assistance for persecuted colleagues. The National Socialist state made an effort immediately after the "Anschluss" to win over the women as well. The propaganda especially focused on the mothers. This pre-eminence of motherhood was intended to encourage women to give birth to as many "racially valuable" children as possible in order to counteract the alleged decline of the German people due to declining child numbers.

What lies just around the corner?

4 years ago, I didn't know, but things turned out so much better than I ever imagined they could be. More changes are on the horizon for us right now, all positive, getting us to where we want to be.

This is the only picture I have of the wind-shear damage of June 6, 2006 to the Tulsa Fairgrounds (Bell's Amusement Park). Sadly, the event foreshadowed the eventual destruction of all of Bell's.

From the NYTimes article:

"The break had been foreshadowed by the continued tightening of the financial structure as brokers' loans increased, week by week, and by the nervousness and apparent hesitation which had characterized market fluctuations during the past fortnight...

"...there appeared on the tickers fresh evidences of selling. This became more pronounced at midday, and fresh weakness developed in the early afternoon. It was in the final hour of the day, however, between 2 and 3 o'clock, when the storm burst...

Phillip Snowden, Chancellor of the British Exchequer, said that the "orgy of speculation" in the New York market over the last year had been responsible for the advance of the British re=discount rate and the financial difficulties abroad... another factor adding to the confusion was the selling by the bears, who drove forward steadily, direction their liquidation at the most vulnerable spots..."

Allard Motor Company Limited was a London based low volume car manufacturer founded in 1945 by Sydney Allard which commenced from small premises in south west London. Car manufacture almost ceased within a decade. It produced approximately 1900 cars before it became insolvent and ceased trading in 1958.[citation needed] Before the war, Allard supplied some replicas of a Bugatti-tailed special of his own design from Adlards Motors in Putney.

Allards featured large American V8 engines in a light British chassis and body, giving a high power-to-weight ratio and foreshadowing the Sunbeam Tiger and AC Cobra of the early 1960s. Cobra designer Carroll Shelby and Chevrolet Corvette chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov both drove Allards in the early 1950s.

6/6/18: The 74th Anniversary of D-Day:

D-Day foreshadowed the end of Hitler's dream of Nazi domination.

Operation Overlord: The largest air, land & sea operation in History. Included over 5K ships, 11K planes & 150K+ service men. After years of meticulous planning and seemingly endless training, for the Allied Forces, it all came down to this:

The boat ramp goes down, then jump, swim, run, and crawl to the cliffs. Many of the first young men (most not yet 20 yrs old) entered the surf carrying 80 pounds of equipment. They faced over 200 yards of beach before reaching the first natural feature offering any protection. Blanketed by small-arms fire and bracketed by artillery, they found themselves in hell. P-51 Mustangs, Spitfires and aging Hurricanes strafed the gun emplacements.

Once over, the Allies had suffered nearly 10,000 casualties (4,000+ dead). Yet somehow, due to planning, preparation & the valour, fidelity & sacrifice of the Allied Forces, Fortress Europe had been breached.

I have pushed the limits of my aging computer [and myself] over the past few days to make a 3D model to commemorate the event, from which I have rendered this diorama, "Lest We Forget"

Coucher de soleil du 09 mars qui laissait présager une belle journée. C'est confirmé il fait superbe et on semble annoncer au moins une semaine de beau temps, je n'y croyais plus

Sunset on March 9th which foreshadowed a beautiful day. It is confirmed the weather is great and it seems that we will have least one week of nice weather, I no longer believed that this would happen
