Autumn is one of the four Earth’s seasons, that goes after summer and foreshadows winters. This season also can be called as fall & it is about big changes in nature and environment. Autumn means a lot of fun and outdoors activities. It brings different colors to the people’s life – red, orange, yellow and more. But of course, the main sign of fall is when leaves start to change their color and everything becomes more magnificent and beautiful. So go outdoors and enjoy the amazing time!!! Feel autumn vibe everywhere. Here you can see a dry tree and some vibrant red color leaves are falling down. But once you have a closer look you will recognize that those dried tree and leaves are actually microorganisms growing on Nutrient Agar Medium. In fact, they were drawn with Serratia marcescens.

We're Here: Revisited

I announced my pregnancy with this photo, so I decided to do an updated version :) Already halfway through this pregnancy and it's so SO different from my first one. I think that's just foreshadowing how different this little one will be from my boy. I can't wait to meet her!

In other news, heartburn is the devil and homemade popsicles are little treats from heaven.

Gratitude:

I'm thankful that me and my best friend are sorting issues out. I miss her.

Scavenge Challenge #9 : Golden Hour

Frank Tuttle was one of the photographers who joined us down in Mexico this weekend. He ended up with such a great set of images... a new direction and point of departure for his work.

Thanks Frank, for coming down to Puerto Penasco and making the weekend even more fun.

It’s twelve years since I first featured this fictional class of locomotive so some recap is appropriate. The Class 22/1 was an updated and uprated version of the ill-fated North British Class 22 diesel-hydraulic locomotive. The styling, which foreshadowed that of the later North Ireland Railways Class 101 diesel-electric, suggests that the order may have been sub-contracted to Hunslet or that the latter took-over the contract in the light of North British’s declining fortunes. There are elements of the Class 52 ‘Western’ and Class 35 ‘Hymek’ styling so, having finished a previous version in the former’s signature maroon livery, I’ve finished this new version in the latter’s duo-tone green livery with white window frames (24-Jun-24).

duct-tapping the shoes - FORESHADOWING!

Some people call it "Autumn"... these people have never raked leaves.

These maple trees, near the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal, made for a rather eerie scene. Coupled with the sound-deadening quality of the fog, the reduced lines of sight, and of course the (quite literal) foreshadowing effect of a sharply back-lit set of trees, it lent a sombre, nearly "American Werewolf In London" quality to the wait for the delayed ferry.

This cute statue foreshadowed the rug shopping that awaited us.

Here is my friend Will once again. He modeled for me a few months ago. I was feeling kinda lonely this evening, so I called Will up and sure enough he said he'd love to model for me. I packed up my LumoPro160 kit and camera and took off. I'm not sure if I like this picture yet.

I read this quote awhile back. Something about every picture a photographer takes being a picture of their inner psyche. What do you think about that? I've had a pretty rough week so maybe its accurate. Haha.

It's just a little tree yet but it already casts quite a shadow in the autumn sun. Maybe this foreshadows what a mighty tree it might once become.

One of the first pictures I took with my new Tamron 10–24mm.

In my mind I conjure up images from post holocaust documentary films of the death camps taken by the allied forces. Bodies piled up one on to of the other, as the bulldozers would shovel them into the massive graves. Trees symbolize life. Cut down gives me an ominous feeling that foreshadows an end of humanity.

These photographs were taken in Canada where the lumber industry is well regulated to maintain the forests. As the grown trees are cut down there are young ones planted to keep replenishing the tree population. Nevertheless the feeling of sadness and doom is ever present.

Lowenstark’ Log: 05-14-20XX

Umm… talk about awkward.

During Sixteener week, I spent some time with Portia, the mayor’s beautiful assistant. We had some interesting dialogue, shared a sweet moment, and basically started to become friends.

Given our experience, I thought I’d be courteous and invite her over for some pizza at League HQ. I was feelin’ social, so ya know, why not?

Well, let me just say this… 20 year old Portia is WAY more awkward than 16 year old Awkward. And despite attempts on my part to keep things humorous, light hearted, and funny… I think I just kept making things WAY more uncomfortable for her. She blushes like CRAZY.

Anyway, at one point Dr. Lilly came over, and I was helping her with some of her work on her water filtration system… and I paused to snag a slice of pizza, and Portia tells me her best friend is FORGE.

Read up and read that name again. I know, huh?

So in my shock, I dropped my slice, went to catch it, and batted it right into her face on accident. She was mortified.

Dr. Lilly saved me by slapping pizza into my face. Then we all laughed, Lilly left, and things got awkward with the clean up.

So let me say this right now: I am 100% loyal to Bianca. But I do like to flirt a little. It’s a bad habit, yeah, and since Young!Laz is so fresh no my mind, it’s only gotten worse. So she showers and cleans herself up, we start talking about the Cryocenter, and I can tell she’s Suuuuuuper uncomfortable.

To me, it seems like she’s attracted to me. But I guess I feel that way about everyone. Which is funny, because I don’t see myself as attractive. Anyway, she took the shower, and came out with pants on, but I could tell she had her panties in her back pocket (shut up, you pervs, I’m an investigator. I NOTICE things. Hello, I’ve solved more than one puzzle / crime in Midian already.)

Anywho… I make a crack about it, and she totally freaks out. I tell her to lighten up… bad choice. She storms out, and I think she’s about to cry.

I’m uhh, yeah, I’m REALLY good at keeping friends. REALLY good.

Thing is, she’s a good person. And I want to be her friend. Just need to find out how to convince her I’m not a total creep.

Palais Jacques Coeur: Jacques Cœur was an important figure in French history and left behind an imposing palace in Bourges. This rich palace, built from 1443 to 1451, foreshadows the mansions that blossomed during the Renaissance.

Jacques Cœur (1395-1456) was born in Bourges and was a French merchant, merchant banker and ship-owner. He was one of the first French person to establish and maintain business relations with the countries of the Orient. He was appointed head of the finance of the king of France by Charles VII in 1436.

His palace is richly decorated and there are wonderful details everywhere you look.

Homopunk World #4

Tony Arena

2002

New York, NY, US

In today's over saturated guess-which-big-music-star is coming out this week... it is absolutely unfathomable what breathe of fresh air blew into the Nixon era Television Window one night on PBS in the early 1970s on a proto-Reality show about a 'typical' American family. In another bit of handy retro-foreshadowing, the outed teen becomes a rock star in the burgeoning New York punk scene. That's where Tony comes in. He's been a part of the New York punk scene as well, documenting obscure bands, artists, and even a bit of queer punk history now and then in his zine Homopunk World.

Foreshadowing... I dream of Cupcakes :)

One of the greatest of the great.

This image foreshadows what's to come as I go through my photos from this trip.

Books constitute capitol. A library book lasts as long as a house, for hundreds of years. It is not then an article of mere consumption but fairly of capitol.

This series will be the last of my uploads for the trip I took to southern Burgundy in September 2023.

Listed as a Historic landmark in 1900, the Romanesque church in the out-of-the-way village of Gourdon is one of the secret wonders of Burgundy. Not particularly outstanding from the outside, its large silhouette nevertheless foreshadows an impressive interior, and indeed it is, with its combination of a whooping three-level, Cluny-inspired elevation, its three naves and its generalized system of groin vaulting. Its collection of sculpted capitals is also famous, as are the alfresco paintings that were discovered in the 1940s as the plastering that was applied to hide them in the 19th century began to peel away. More such discoveries were made in the 1970s and restoration lasted until the early 1990s.

Located on a hilltop in the département of Saône-et-Loire, Gourdon has been inhabited since time immemorial. Valuable traces of Roman presence were found in 1845 and promptly shipped to a museum in Paris (the Cabinet des Médailles) where the are still being exhibited to this day. A monastery was founded here very early on, as there is a written trace of a dependency of the Le Puy cathedral chapter in 534, but claims that it was “a Benedictine priory” seem to me a bit overambitious, in spite of my sympathies for that order: let’s not forget that Saint Benedict died only in 547 in Monte Cassino, and I doubt that his Rule was so well-known in Gaul in his own lifetime that it could have been adopted by a small religious establishment in Burgundy... The monastery did certainly exist, though, as Saint Gregory of Tours visited it in 570 and there met with Didier (or Desideratus). About this last figure, History hesitates between the quality of abbot (that would indeed rather be prior if Gourdon were a priory back then) and that of hermit. In any case, by 1104, when the completed parish church is mentioned (there remains no trace of the in-between period), there is no further mention of that monastery, which must have disappeared in the meantime; it was probably little more than a hermitage, as by Year 1000 the rule had been largely propagated by Saint Benedict of Aniane († 821) and Benedictine houses were flourishing all over the Western world. An already existing priory would most likely never have been so abandoned and shut down. No physical traces of that establishment were ever found by archæologists.

Since around 1100, the church has been left almost intact, except for the bell tower which collapsed in 1881 and was rebuilt in 1889, exactly as it was before.

January 22, 2017 - Bottlenose Dolphins Selection – Taiji, Japan

Day Three; the nightmare hasn’t ended.

The day started early again as the first of the skiffs arrived at 06:51am, followed by the others, full of trainers, by 07:00am. The boats drove straight through the pod; a scene that would foreshadow the rest of the day.

By 07:35, during the first of the group selections, a young dolphin thrashed itself so hard against the side of the skiff that it bled. 3 days without food, left in the freezing cold and shallow water, these dolphins were frightened and exhausted.

We noted the first 2 skiffs leaving with 2 dolphins each at 09:21am. They were slung up onto the sides of the boats and dragged through their family, away to their morbid new “home,” alone, hungry and scared. The skiffs continued to plough straight over the families as they were frantically thrashing.

At 11:19am, 3 very small baby dolphins were put into slings and dragged past their frantic mothers, taking the abduction count up to 41 over the past 2 days of selection. There was horrific sights of trainers separating a mother and baby as the mother dove head-first toward the skiff in order to be by her child. The laughing and talking from the trainers rang out through the cove as we watched a complete decimation of a family unravel before our eyes. We were watching a mother’s worst nightmare. We were watching a helpless being have her only friend and companion torn from her.

The hunters took a moment for lunch before resuming, stealing another 6 small bodies for slave labour at around 1pm. At 1:46pm, the last of the babies were stolen for the day, taking the total count up to 53; that was 30 yesterday and another 23 today.

The process of assessing, marking, terrorising and torturing continued until we noticed the tarps start to be withdrawn at around 2:30pm

Another 7 gruelling, nightmarish hours saw the end to the third day. Unfortunately, we are sad to announce that the process isn’t over. The - once - super pod of 200 dolphins will spend yet another night netted into the cove, awaiting scrutiny and invasion of their sacred bodies and that of their children’s, before either being rejected as “not beautiful enough,” or abducted for their profitability potential.

This is all done in the name of marine park revenue. Aquariums, zoos and marine parks alike who keep once wild animals, all play a part in the horrific, six-monthly dolphin hunt that occurs here in Taiji. The captive industry is responsible for the heartache of mothers having their babies dragged away in front of their own eyes. The captive industry is responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths of innocent animals. The captive industry is responsible for the decimation of the ocean’s diverse and rich ecology. Say no to marine park tickets. Animals behind glass didn’t wilfully give up their free lives.

I loved a man once.

His name was Kim.

We were together for 4 years.

We were supposed to be together for more, but then in 2000 he went and did something pathetic and fucking cowardly.

He died.

I keep all of our momentos in a silver box. It once held biscuits and is covered in scenes of Paris, which is where we met. I try to stay away from the box, to forget that the box is there, until sometimes I remember it and I must find the box right now, right that minute, and I must know it is ok.

Sometimes I stumble across a letter he wrote me that somehow escaped from the box. Finding it is like being punched in the solar plexus. I must be more dilligent about making sure nothing escapes from the box.

I stumbled across something today, when I went to put my passport away.

I had to bury it right away in the box, lest it start to get under my skin.

Every time I say goodbye, the box defies me.

I really love the new Red orb, but the green was a bit to dim

I just happened to notice this strange image in the mirror one afternoon. It seems to comprise of refracted and reflected sunlight though the glass blocks of my bathroom wall. Strange. My wife sees a dog's face while I see wailing visage of a tormented spirit.

A year later we realized that at the time this picture was taken our dog Lulu was pregnant. It seems this image was foreshadowing the litter to come.

guess this was a foreshadow of the nights events, this was taken completely out of accident, I was trying to set my camera up for self-timer for all of us in the room, but this ended up being taken. We had a few bottles of the good ol' Jameson! but later mine rolled* off my lap & shattered to the ground, un-open, I managed to salvage a bit though some jameson is better than no Jameson.

kinda bummed, I just signed into my flickr account & it said that all my pro-stuff is GONE, so now I have limitations. & can only upload so much at a time, which really blows since I'm just now starting to get some opportunities to shoot badasses. somebody buy me a proaccount p--p-p-p-p-p-p-p-leaaaaase? :(

I had no idea this existed before taking these pictures. TIL!
