The Air Force, along with its Polish counterparts leave Łask Air Base to participate in exercise Eagle Talon with the first F-16 flights from the South Carolina Air National Guard, 52nd Fighter Wing and the 32nd Tactical Wing from Poland, June 16, 2015. U.S. Air Force Airmen from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany and the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing from McEntire Joint National Guard Base, are deployed to Łask Air Base in support of Operation ATLANTIC RESOLVE, during the month of June. These training missions, called Aviation Detachment Rotations, pair U.S. fighter pilots and maintenance crews with their Polish Air Force counterparts at Łask Air Base. This bilateral training, hosted by permanently assigned USAF service members assigned to Poland, has taken place since 2012. Members of the Virginai Defense Force conduct a point of distribution exercise Nov. 3, 2018, in Blackstone and Crewe, Virginia, during a multi-day training assembly based at Fort Pickett. VDF members also conducted evaluations on communication and incident management teams as well as set up and operation of mobile communication platforms, and they also conducted a variety of professional development sessions for officers, noncommissioned officers and enlisted personnel. The VDF is authorized by the Code of Virginia as the all-volunteer reserve of the Virginia National Guard. They are a force multiplier and integrated into all VNG domestic response operations. Members of the Virginia Defense Force's Lynchburg-based 4th Regiment take part in Forward Guardian 2015, a multi-state, multi-agency communication exercise Nov. 7, 2015, in Lynchburg, Va. More than 150 VDF personnel deployed to locations across the state and installed and operated both mobile and fixed short and long range radio communication systems to link simulated mission command nodes with the Virginia National Guard's Joint Operations Center and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management as well as federal and local exercise participants. Several different state defense organization also took part in the exercise, and the VDF was able to establish communications across multiple time zones. Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Command Sgt. Maj. Alan Ferris, Virginia National Guard Senior Enlisted Advisor, visited the training to receive an operations update and to thank the VDF members for volunteering their time to conduct the exercise. Providing interoperable communications is one of the many different missions sets the VDF provides as the all-volunteer auxiliary to the Virginia National Guard.
