This plant is a naturalised 'foreigner', introduced from Asia in 1839 and grown in greenhouses before it escaped in to the wild.

It flourished on river banks and in damp places, and is common in scattered localities throughout Britain. These are along the Bourne Stream in the Upper Gardens.

It has a foolproof method of ensuring pollination: when a bumblebee visits for the nectar contained in the lower sepal, the broad, deep cup closes completely round the insect, ensuring contact with both the male and female parts.

Seed dispersal is by explosion, and pushing through a thicket of the plants can result in a shower of seeds. When the green capsules have ripened, their sides spring back, throwing the seeds violently for considerable distances.

In the right hand pic, you can see a bees leg, but I wasn't able to contain the dogs long enough to see if the flower closed up! You can, however, and if you are old enough to remember how they looked, see why they used to be called Policemans Helmets!

you sure you know how to get out of this place, larry?

absolutely. I got a plan. a foolproof plan.

I only ask because this looks like a dead end, know what I mean?

leave it to me, buddy boy. we'll get out of here safe and sound.

in fact, I'm quite positive that this is a dead end.

no way! you sure?

and I'm also positive that I hear the cops behind us.

shit! already? we just ran out of the bank!

so what are we gonna do now, smart guy?

no doubt about it. we go to plan B.

and what exactly is that, larry?

I'll let you know. soon as I think of it.

Okay, this is a big one:

1-Gather your scalp, your rehairing tool (and spare needles if needed), your thumbtack.corkboard tack, and your skein of hair.

2-Take you thumbtack and GENTLY ease it into one of the holes on the scalp. You don't want to split the plug hole or the scalp. If you think the tack will be too thick, try using a heavy duty sewing needle. Really, all this does is widen the plug hole to make rehairing easier - and ensure you break fewer needles.

3-Pick out a plug from your skein of hair. It should look like this.

4-At this point, if you know how long your hair needs to be, you'll cut the plug and fold it in half over your finger like this. If you're uncertain about what length you want, like me, you'll need to fold the hair much closer to one end of the plug (so one side of the plug will be MUCH longer than the other)

5-Gently ease the double prong of the tool around the plug like this (longer prong under the plug, shorter above) and pull it off your finger.

6-Trap the plug, taut, against the side of the tool with your finger and thumb, like so.

7, 8 -Remove the tack from the plug hole, GENTLY lol, and push the pronged needle gently into the hole. This will push the plug in with it. Make sure you push the tool in until the base of the needle holder touches the scalp.

9-Release the plug from your thumb and finger and gently pull the rehairing tool free. The tool should come out and the plug should stay put, like above.

10-Turn the scalp over. On the other side, the plug should look like a little loop. If you have folded your hair in half, at this point leave the loop and continue rehairing using the locked-loop method used on blythe rehairs: www.puchicollective.com/tutorials/blythetutorials/rerooti...

If you're trying to keep the hair long, like me, gently tease this loop through until the shorter end of the plug springs free into the scalp.

Continue rehairing a section (I would recommend no more than 36 plugs - especially if using my technique) and apply a liberal amount of tacky glue.

Allow to dry then repeat until you've rehaired the full scalp <3

Note: This is just my method of rehairing and it certainly isn't the only one, nor is it foolproof.

The FoolProof Ploy;

Gahannapalooza 2004.

The "Pteranodon" was one out of a series of sesquiplanes with an unorthodox wing and fuselage layout produced by agricultural and military machinery conglomerate Crestland-Mill.

Mk6, affectionately dubbed 'Pete' by it's operators and given a whole variety of derogatory nicknames by everyone else, was the last iteration that incorporated these distinct elements in a design for the small fighter role.

Unlike it's predecessors it saw deployment in considerable numbers during the Cuerno Isle debacle where it's unusual silhoutte made it infamous among the fighting forces on all three sides of the conflict.

Rumor has it that Crestland-Mill, when tasked to further increase the combat capabilites of their Mk5, decided to cut corners by combining equal thirds of a crop duster, interceptor and heavy bomber to model the new fuselage.

If true, oddly enough, each of the elements add up to a surprisingly capable machine, offering foolproof mechanics, decent flight caracteristics and a sturdy fuselage with a pressurized cockpit.

The airfoils also proved to generate more lift than expected, allowing the engineers to shorten the wingspan noticeably.

Nimble and compact, compared to many other available two seater fighters, it was designated to serve speciality roles by some of it's operating forces.

The Royal-Patagoria airforce for example adopted the Pteranodon for their airship carrier program, fitting it with docking clamps on the upper wing surface.

For the Isleño rebel forces, the powerful engine, short wingspan and maintenance-friendly airframe meant that they could be covertly stationed in most rural towns and directly take off from the narrow streets.

Nontheless, it's awkward appearance and stance earned it numerous unofficial titles, including:

- turbocharged, flying wheelbarrow

- the falling tractor

- El P'Terror

Another runnung joke, althoug proved to be dangerous myth, muses that the Pteranodon could just as well be made a pusher plane, simply by mounting the propeller and pilot seat in reverse.

Foolproof Brewing Company's "Peanut Butter Raincloud Porter." I saw this and figured I just had to try it. I really love trying different beer's and Foolproof did a great job with the last weird one I tried "Shuckolate," so I bought it. I was pleasantly surprised. It was definitely more "porter" than "peanut" which was good, but you definitely got a little peanutty taste coming through. Well done.

Sole Support: A Home Casting System for Custom Orthotic Insoles

Sole Support is a unique home casting system which allows parents to quickly and easily create custom children’s orthotic insoles which fit perfectly inside any pair of shoes.

Designed to be as quick, simple and foolproof as a home baking kit, the system consists of three core features:

Custom 3-D Printed Foot Last: Custom made from a 3D scan to match the individual child’s foot and altered by a trained orthotist to be in the correct position. This foot last acts as a mould for the casting process.

Alignment Handle: Necessary in order for the cast insole to be positioned correctly within the shoe to provide necessary medical correction and support.

Silicone Moulding Compound Insole: The specialised formula begins as a mouldable putty with a similar consistency to playdough and cures to a semi-rigid silicone rubber.

Savory Cornstarch Crepes

Makes sixteen to eighteen 6- or 7-inch crepes, or ten to twelve 9- or 10-inch crepes

2 large eggs (1

1 cup milk none

1/3 cup water none

1 cup all-purpose flour, preferably bleached (2 tb Cornstarch)

1/4 teaspoon salt

**2 tablespoons butter, melted, plus 2 or 3 teaspoons butter for coating the pan

In a blender or food processor, blend the eggs, milk, water, flour, salt, and the 2 tablespoons melted butter for 5 seconds, or until smooth. Stir down and repeat if necessary. Or, to mix by hand, sift the flour into a medium bowl and add the salt. Whisk the eggs until blended, mix in the milk and water, and whisk this mixture into the flour and salt; stir in the 2 tablespoons melted butter. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (though 2 hours is preferable) or up to 24 hours.

Gently stir the batter if it has separated. Heat a seasoned 6- or 7-inch nonstick crepe pan over medium-high heat until hot. (use a 9- or 10-inch pan for larger crepes.) Coat the pan lightly with butter, lift the pan from the heat, and pour in 2 or 3 tablespoons of batter for a 6- or 7-inch pan, or about 1/4 cup for 9- or 10-inch pan, tilting and rotating the pan to coat the surface. Cook until almost dry on top and lightly browned on the edges, about 1 minutes. Loosen the edges with a metal spatula and flip the crepe over using your fingers or the spatula, then cook the other side for about 15 seconds, or until lightly browned. Turn the crepe out onto a clean tea towel to cool. Repeat with the remaining batter, wiping the pan with butter as needed and stacking the crepes as they are cooked.

For serving immediately, cover the crepes with aluminum foil and keep them warm in a preheated 200-degree-F oven. For serving later, wrap them in plastic wrap in quantities intended for each use and slip them in a self-sealing plastic bag. Refrigerate crepes for up to 3 days, or freeze them for up to 2 months

Cornstarch Crepes: Follow the savory crepe recipe, but replace the 1 cup all-purpose flour with 1 cup cornstarch and add 1/8 teaspoon baking soda.

1/2 tsp sazon; **sub 2 tsp oil for butter

Training of our field staff - enumerators and supervisors – lasted one week. At the end of the day, no matter how strong the methodology and no matter how perfect/foolproof the data collection tools, the quality of ones data depends on the execution in the field.

Many of our regular readers will know that one of my areas of specialization in public health is global health delivery. Previous research has shown that approximately 60% of childhood mortality could be prevented with existing solutions. The challenge is figuring out how to effectively get these solutions to the people that need them and have them effectively use them. Similarly, there is also a science to effective implementation of research and evaluation protocols. Hands on supervision in the field, as well as open and regular communication with field teams and supervisors is essential.

This year, 2026 is the centenary of the formation of Zeiss Ikon, a major player in European camera manufacture in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the 20th century.

To mark this anniversary, I've decided to use a different Zeiss Ikon camera every two weeks throughout the year, a project I'm calling “Twenty-six in Twenty-six”.

Zeiss Ikon launched their series of Contaflex cameras in 1953. Over the following 20 years or so, twelve versions were made with ever increasing degrees of sophistication and indeed weight. A wide range of accessories was available, and these precision made leaf shuttered SLRs proved very popular. The Contaflex 126 is a different beast altogether, it may share the name and bear a superficial resemblance to the rest of the family, but it's something of a cuckoo in the nest.

Kodak introduced the 126, or Instamatic cartridge in 1963. It was intended to provide a simple, foolproof way for a growing numbers of less technically savvy users to load film into their cameras. Although the film is 35mm wide, the format is not the same. The film, which has one perforation per frame and sits within a plastic cartridge, is backed by a roll of paper, and gives square negatives measuring 28 x 28mm. Until very recently Instagram's native format was square, and it may be that the name itself was riffing on the Instamatic brand.

While the format was unashamedly aimed at the amateur snapshot market, many of the major manufacturers added a token higher end SLR 126 model to their range. This is a bit of a puzzle to me, one criticism of the 126 cartridge is that the absence of a pressure plate to keep the film absolutely flat might theoretically impair the image quality, yet surely any photographer with such technical concerns wouldn't be put off by the easily learnable step of loading a 35mm cassette into a camera. Nonetheless, Rollei, Kodak, Ricoh and of course the prestigious Zeiss Ikon, felt the need to pitch in.

Unlike the “normal” Contaflexes, which at best have interchangeable front elements, the 126 version has fully interchangeable lenses,though with a mount which is unique to this one model. Optical physics dictate that the longest practical focal length that can be achieved by swapping the front element is 115mm, but the 126 range of lenses went up to 200mm, though it seems that very few of these lenses were actually made. The other key difference between the 35mm and 126 Contaflexes, is that the latter employ a focal plane shutter rather than the traditional leaf shutter.

Today, with the only 126 film available being long expired, it's actually quite useful to be able to set the camera manually. The oft quoted rule of thumb that film loses sensitivity at a rate of one stop per decade, means that an ISO 100 film made in the 1970s would need to be exposed at around ISO 3 today. Most consumer Instamatic cameras won't allow this, but using an aperture of f2.8, and the shutter speed of 1/30th, it's practical to use the Contaflex 126 in reasonable daylight. The film is very expired Fujicolor Super HR 100, developed in the Bellini C41 kit.

Here's one of my favorite saw sets. Although I think the Somax saw sets are simply the best out there for smaller teeth, I very much like the Morrills patented saw sets for larger teeth. They're comfortable to hold, very easily set and with the broad plunger as well as anvil they are pretty much foolproof to use. This Apex model was introduced around 1910.

A tiny corner of the Tengchong wholesale amber market. Tengchong has long been a marketplace for Burmese gems and jade, though in the last decade amber has completely taken over. As the border is officially closed at the moment, presumably this is all smuggled in. The size of the trade has justified a direct daily flight from this remote corner of China all the way to Shenzhen, on the border with Hong Kong.

Buyers check that they're not getting a lump of coloured plastic by seeing if it floats in water and whether it fluoresces in UV light, though neither test is foolproof. Only sure way is to stick a hot pin into the trinket and seeing if it smells of burning plastic (in which case, it is plastic) - not encouraged.

"All Optimas have:

a HUGE brightline viewfinder that makes them useful to people with glasses;

one single thumb lever that winds or rewinds the film, depending on the polarity set by a push button;

a foolproof quick-loading system;

the big Sensor shutter release with a clear pressure point;

automatic exposure;

an f/2.8 lens (fast and practical);

a plastic slab that (briefly) protects the exposed film from fogging when you accidentally open the back;

a plastic-coated, all-metal body.

The Optimas are very transparently designed cameras (albeit very German in appearance and strangely reminiscent of the Plaubel Makina 6×7), and very compact too. They have an outer shell of plastic-coated metal and mostly metal internals, which makes them very durable. There are a lot of plastic parts, some of which are fairly vital like cogs and such, but I think that here plastics are not so much synonymous with cheapness and shoddiness, but with optimized mechanical characteristics and manufacturability."

Headed back to the QC (Queen Charlotte, ie: Charlotte 'home') for the day. Even though this is not even close to where in going. Just heading back to the old stomping ground makes me happy! :)

Your old house isn’t just a house; it’s a comforting place where you have been living for the long time. you have sentiments associated with it. As the time passes even you might have good options to grab but the affiliation and the attachment does allow you to change your home. But it is the definite things that where you live, you tend to have a charisma in that, that enchants your mind and body.

Here we will discuss few important tips that can give the old house a new look.

1.New look to the entrance door

If you really want to change the look of your house, paint your entrance door, that will obvious the effort done by you. The painted entrance door will sparkle the road.

2.Choose a good and lasting wall color

While painting your walls, you need to understand the weathers and the events coming up. Do not paint your walls too dark or else you would need too much lighting arrangement for your house. So you can play with every kind of #decorations at home.

3.Seating arrangement

Make sure that your seating arrangement must be organized in the way if everyone is sitting they can communicate with other. Your coffee table must be in the center so if the guests have cups, they can easily place the cups there after they are finished.

4.Let the sun be all yours

The early morning sun raises are always giving a sense that you are alive. If your house is complete with the furniture make your window light with light colored blinds of linen or cotton. So the sun raises do penetrate inside the house.

5.Mirrors are mandatory

Try to have one mirror in every room placed in such a way that you can see yourself in it and the light must reflect from it. Mirrors give the room a sense of spaciousness.

6.Art work must be displayed

The artwork from any gallery must be presented in the home to give a look of being appreciative. Do not hang the scenery too high or too low considering the short and tall people visitors at your place.

7.Appropriate lighting is a must

You are not supposed to make your home dark. You can segregate lighting arrangement according to the space of the room. In this way the light from different dimensions will brighten your decorations.

8.Rugs and Furniture

If you want to place a rug under the sofa, it should definitely come under both the legs of the sofa describing the sitting area. Otherwise you can use the rugs under the center table so it cannot get dirty.

9.Call an organizer once in a while

You and your house sometimes need critique to look and give the idea for improvement. Since you are spending more time in your house, may be you are not realizing which thing to throw and what to keep.

10.How to create space in your house?

If your house ceiling is not so high, it does not mean that you can play with the decoration. The first thing is paint the walls with light color and then ask the carpenter to put the curtain rod a bit higher than the window pain.

11.You can add chandlers

You can add chandlers, wind chimes and many other things to make your old home an attractive place. It just need some time in your monotonous routine and some extra efforts. These kind of decorations are basic arrangement to make your old house a big different and unique look.

A 1904 De Dion Bouton 8-HP, kindly identified by "Daniel"

Count Albert De Dion commissioned Messrs Bouton and Trépardoux, brothers-in-law and jobbing engineers, to build light steam carriages for him as early as 1882. In 1895 attention was switched to the fashionable new internal combustion engine and De Dion Bouton et Cie were marketing a diminutive petrol engined tricycle. These early tricycles were powered by Bouton's new, high speed, single cylinder, vertical engine which revved at almost twice the speed of the contemporary Daimlers. By 1899 the company was marketing a 3 1/2hp Voiturette, an all new generation of four wheel motor car with rear mounted engine driving through a system of gears to the rear wheels. With the new car came the renowned De Dion rear axle – then years ahead of its time. A larger 4 1/2hp engine was offered in the vis-à-vis models from 1900 and with this power unit the car had a comfortable running speed of 25mph although braking ability was a limiting factor. By 1904 De Dion Bouton was firmly established as France's most prolific motor car manufacturer, their fast-revving engines having set new standards in engine design at the turn of the century. Early rear-engined models gave way to a new generation of front-engined cars for the 1902 season, again single cylinder models with atmospheric inlet valve and mechanical exhaust valve. These engines were so successful that De Dion sold them to many other manufacturers and had they simply sold engines alone, the De Dion Bouton operation would still have been a very substantial enterprise. De Dion's gearbox was virtually foolproof for the first time car driver, the fast-revving engines were supremely reliable and De Dion back-up and service was second-to-none. The number of surviving cars is testimony to their popularity and build quality and the single cylinder 8hp model of 1904 was the undoubted leader in its peer group.

Mission24: FOOL. I wonder how many people have wished there was some awesome foolproof guidebook for life? Anytime we reach the crossroads of a big decision, we seek guidance. It feels like things would be easier if someone gave us the answers. But, no one can pick the right path for someone else. We all have to figure out what works for us in any given moment and go for it. Besides, what fun would it be if we had all the answers? I choose not knowing. It is time for me to just let go and see where I land. It's ok to be a fool and throw the guidebook out the window.
