Backwoods Gallery is proud to present a visceral and energetic snapshot of modern Japan though the eyes of illustrative genius Shohei Otomo.
Working mostly in ballpoint pen, Shohei Otomo’s insightful depictions of Japan expose both its commercial facade and deepest underground culture. Delivered with an unmistakable level of biting political analysis and technical perfection, Shohei’s work straddles the worlds of art, graphic design, anime and punk.
Son of the legendary Katsuhiro Otomo the prolific author and illustrator who has shaped so much of Japanese culture with titles such as AKIRA, Shohei’s work takes his fathers legacy into the next generation.
We are exceedingly proud to be exhibiting new, unseen and familiar works by Shohei Otomo, all originals insanely rendered in ballpoint pen, limited edition prints by the artists will also be available.
Fool is a British summery dessert (though I don’t see any reason why one should not have it all year long), which is probably hundreds of years old. This amazingly elegant, simple and delicious dessert is basically made by a sweetend fruit purée, stirred and folded into whipped double cream.

Richmond Castle had a Knights Tournament. As well as a handful of stalls showcasing various things, they had a tournament between 4 knights. Between the 1v1 tournament and the Grand Melee the Fool put on a show involving fire eating and "getting onto stilts in the most incompetent and convoluted way possible".

Part of being able to afford the startup costs for this business was selling a lot of stuff that would have been handy to have in running this business. I've been doing all my demo stuff with a little Samsung still camera that happens to have a movie mode. Of course, that means using a little built-in mic that breaks up if the volume creeps up at all.
So this week I bought a cheap little Zoom camcorder. It's not a spectacular camera by any stretch of the imagination. It has a fixed-focus lens. However, those little mics can handle 130 db. So I can do demos without blowing out the audio every few seconds.
