These blades come from an old Moulinex, a beautiful but slightly over-engineered contraption (in my opinion) for slicing, dicing, julienning vegetables etc, which I don't use but it's too lovely to throw out. For Macro Mondays theme "Contraption". HMM!

An icm image of our kitchen island in light from the setting sun. Our kitchen is painted yellow, and light from our windows always adds a lot of blue to my photos - so yellow and blue are the original colors here. I saturated the color a bit, but didn't change the hues. It seems even pots and pans know which colors stand for right these days.

My new toy for the kitchen. I shall be giving it a trial run this weekend. As long as I can find out how to use it. It's far more complicated than my old one!

My dear loved food processor died yesterday.

This was a wedding present for us in 1988 and has been used regularly for past 30 years. Wonderfully hard working and clearly made to last.

Sunday Evening Post, Vol.2, No.2: The Line Jumper / Rich White Privilege

This is part of a project I've been working on for just over a year now. I did my own little wish list of what I hoped Re-ment would someday make, the ultimate kitchen set. I realized that many of the items had already been made in different collections. My next wish was for all of them to all match in color and in scale (yeah right), well at least painting them made them all the same color.

My original thought was to mimic some of the older sets where there were 5 regular sets and 5 special sets. Each box would have one appliance and one or two other kitchen items. My 5 regular would be red and 5 special would be stainless steel. Over the course of the year I added many items and many more colors. It's actually a bit on the silly side, but I had so much fun finding new items and painting them new colors that I just kept going and going. :)

Due to my lack of digital photography skills, I've only taken pictures of my Red Appliance Set so far. The red set is the set I went crazy on and added items to that won't be in any other color set: the rice cooker, toaster, coffee maker, hot plate, motor & pestle and utensil set are all special to my red set.

These were all painted with spray paint. It is not special for plastic paint. In using a good primer, I could use any color spray paint I wanted. I used a primer and top coat from the same brand as the paint color. I have shared some painting tips in a discussion on the Re-ment Addicts group discussion page.

The background is one of the red kitchen counter and back splashes that I painted with a stone effect spray paint. I covered the sink section and it is now counter area.

I like having two of these, one for big jobs, one for small jobs.

I took this Photograph in November 2011 at the Strates Shows Winter Quarters at 10600 South Orange Avenue, Orlando (aka: Taft), Florida approximately 1/2 a Mile South of CSX Taft Yard. This Trailer is Racked with some sort of Kiddie Ride (probably a Wacky Worm Coaster).

The Tractor Trailers are loaded on Strates Flat Cars and could be hauled out by CSX or Florida Central Railway to either a CSX or Norfolk Southern Yard for interchange depending upon the Location of the first show of the season. Upon reaching the location of a Show/Carnival, the Railcars woulds be parked in either the Rail Yard or Siding/Team track nearest the Show/Carnival Location. Then the Loaded (aka:Racked Rides, Generators, Lights, etc. ) Trailers would moved by the Strates Tractor(s) to the actual Lot where the Carnival/Show is physically contracted by the Fair or Carnival Sponsor for the Carnival/Show.

This could be a State, County, City Fair Ground, or Sports Stadium or a Private Lot belonging to a Religious or Community Group (such as American Legion, Lions Club, Masonic Organizations, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts, etc.

Food photography is a still life photography genre used to create attractive still life photographs of food. It is a specialization of commercial photography, the products of which are used in advertisements, magazines, packaging, menus or cookbooks. Professional food photography is a collaborative effort, usually involving an art director, a photographer, a food stylist, a prop stylist and their assistants. In advertising, food photography is often – and sometimes controversially – used to exaggerate the attractiveness or size of the advertised food, notably fast food.

This belonged to my wife - I have never used it in the last twelve years. It doesn't seem to work.

Well, I think so, even if I do say so myself :-) Delicate steamed dumplings served with a chilli peanut-butter sauce and a sprinkling of green onions taste wonderful! But why not make some so you can judge for yourself?!

Hunan dumplings, gently simmered then served with a subtle peanut-butter chili sauce and spring oinions. I like serving them with baby bok choy that's very briefly steamed or stir fried ( for only 1 or 2 minutes so they retain their delicate texture) and seasoned with a touch of Japanese soy or oyster sauce.
