20 November 2018, Kitale, Kenya - Fish leather clothing and accessories are displayed at Victorian Foods Factory in Kitale. Fish leather products are unique and extremely durable, while also being a far lighter material than cow leather. Victoria Foods employs more than 300 locals to fish the perch, which is then filleted and transported through cold storage to Kitale, where it is processed and shipped around the country and abroad either as fillets or leather products.

Milling was of more than local importance at a number of the towns of Hampshire, including Basingstoke and Andover. In the eighteenth century there was considerable trade from here to London. The building of the Basingstoke Canal encouraged this trade. Mills in towns further south in the county supplied the coastal trade in flour to the west country. At Andover, Hovis and McDougall both purchased mills in the twentieth century. Hovis bought Anton Mills in 1914. It was turned over to feed milling in the 1920s and closed in the 1950s. The McDougall mill was bought in the 1920s, rebuilt after a fire and converted to electric power in 1929. It continues as a flour mill in the Rank Hovis group. At Southampton, meanwhile, Ranks had built one their large port mills to handle imported grain.

Yesterday evening we entertained ourselves with an old, traditional 'Russki' home activity - making pelmeni. We made our pelmeni essentially 'from scratch' - although doing it that way you usually commit yourself to a tedious process consuming a lot of time.

Certainly, nobody minded it, - the whole evening bore a 'nostalgic flair', prompting me to recall scenes from childhood where the large family would sit down around the big table making pelmeni, and alleviating the dull either by singing songs or bantering across with 'spicy adult jokes' :)

The whole bunch of fabricated pelmeni should be brought outside, on the winter cold to let them get frozen. Then you could store them in a fridge. If you have one :) I mean, in old days, somewhere in some remote Siberian boondocks they would just store them outside, in large sacks, with some precaution against 'sniffy wild animals' prowling around for easy treat .

From beginning to end - the process is a storm. 25 quarts and glad it's done. Time for a CALM nap. :-) For Our Daily Challenge - Calm After the Storm

I learned about food chains in school. They don't tell you this but you can switch everything around and it still is true. I think it means that "everything eats everything else". If I was a teacher, that's what I would tell kids. If you look at my stuff, you can see how much of it is actually educational. I am trying not to type "actually" so much. I think I over-use it.
