Chef Minh Phan takes traditional congee (rice porridge) and turns it into a flavor party with all sorts of bits of creativity she puts into the pot - grilled black-eyed pea miso, sour apples, chayote in black bean sauce, rose onion pickles, mala braised pork sausage, shiso-hibiscus pickled soft egg - all in this bowl of yakimiso porridge.
True Home Depot and Olive Garden weren't involved but I think Frank the tank would still approve of my gingerbread cupcakes.
