Well you've heard of the funky chicken, now here's the punky chicken:-)
Spent all day yesterday walking in and around Fonthill Bishop which is just outside Salisbury, Wiltshire. Part of the walk took in Fonthill Lake which was used to film the river scenes in Chocolat. Shame Johnny wasn't still hanging around:-)
We then ended up at Farmer Giles Farmstead where we met this funky lady amongst other wonderful creatures (more later.........)

A little research shows that Camp Mohawk was a few miles west of Salisbury, near Fonthill Abbey. It was open from 1956 to 1970, and was primarily used for Scouts-type camping events.
My book, out in November 2013, on the subject of the North Eastern Railway in the First World War. Published by Fonthill Media.
The North Eastern Railway was heavily affected by the First World War, as were all of the British railway companies. It was the only railway to form its own Battalion ā the 17th (North Eastern Railway) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, undertaking vital railway and other work. In December 1914 the North Eastern Railway came under attack from the German High Seas Fleet, its warships shelling and damaging the railway at Scarborough, Whitby and the Hartlepools. Three railwaymen were killed, and one former employee, now in the Army, became one of the first British soldiers to be killed by the enemy on home soil during the war. To cope with the loss of manpower and the increasing demands of wartime traffic, women were introduced to the workforce in large numbers for the first time. The North Eastern Railway ran a munitions factory at Darlington, and produced material for the war effort at other sites, including vehicles and ambulance trains. An entire class of locomotives went to France for the war effort, joining the men, horses and even police dogs of the railway. This book tells the important story of the men, women, animals and machines of the North Eastern Railway during the First World War.
A buzzard. I had less than 1 minute to capture this chap. Just saw it out the corner of my eye. My husband stopped the car suddenly, he is getting good at emergency stops I trying not to panic and scare it away, took a deep breath clicked, then it buzzarded off.
