This mural is by BMD. They are a two man crew originally from Taranaki, but are now based out of Wellington. I managed to chat to one during their smoko, but the other member of the crew did his best to avoid me. The mural is best viewed from this angle to get the best 3D illusion.
They are very talented guys and have a look at their great video bmdisyourfriend.com/biography/
This is a 4 cm large stone with two trilobites in it. Trilobites are a group of extinct marine arachnomorph arthropods that form the class Trilobita. The first appearance of trilobites in the fossil record defines the base of the Atdabanian stage of the Early Cambrian period (521 million years ago).
In the fossil you can see the wrinkles of the animals.
Hubby found this gem in Morocco at a dealer's who valued his knowledge of fossils and minerals.
Photographed and uploaded for this week's Macro Mondays' theme "Crinkled, Wrinkled, Folded or Creased"

Title is a Chokebore song.
Folded from a 35 cm square of tant paper, which is too thin, I've discovered. Well, too thin for me.
I'm telling you, there's no escaping red flowers, evidence is here.

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the views on Salisbury Plain. This particular spot, with its curves and hollows, its light and shadow, can look different every day of the year. I think it looks especially lovely in the late evening light of an early summer evening.

Metamorphic rock textures and fabric, including white-pink veinlets, observed in a boulder. Small folds in the gneissic layering are well defined in the right third of the view, and very small folds can be seen elsewhere in this photo. (Scale: the largest (coarsest) white and pink crystals are 1-2 mm size).

I'm not really an origami specialist or artist, so I prefer to call it paper folding, so expectations are less high. In the Netherlands we call this a "muizentrapje", literally translated into English it would be a "mouse ladder". To be honest, I don't know the actual English translation for this. They are made from 2 paper strips folded together, not very creative for an adult, but as children we made the most fantastic creations with this.
Happy Macro Mondays
Thanks for your time, faves and comments, it's much appreciated

The complex geology of badlands terrain, Death Valley National Park.
The landscape of Death Valley National Park is extremely varied. The popular imagination first focuses on scenes of sand dunes, the classic signifier of “desert.” But the place is full of canyons, stream beds, surprising instances of water, mountain peaks, and even forests of several types. All of these are special, but scenes like this one may embody one of the the most common elements of this landscape, the exposure of its underlying geology.
The area of this photograph is incredibly complex. It is a maze of small, eroded formations and canyons, all of them interconnected. Underlying this are uplifted layers of material in colors ranging from nearly black to nearly white, interspersed with surprising bits of red, blue, and green. I photographed here early in the morning because the light was softer and richer and because the low angle of the sun entering the scene from the side delineated the eroded features.

This is me thinking hard about what to post after the ongoing animal series.
Enjoy!

Is was quite interesting to fold with a tree bark as it is harder to shape and not as sturdy as watercolor paper.
Wet-folded from a piece of bark.
Designed and folded by me.
The SX-70 is a folding single lens reflex Land Camera first produced by the Polaroid Corporation in 1972. It was the first instant SLR in history, and the first camera to use Polaroid's new integral print film, which developed automatically without the need for intervention from the photographer. This was revolutionary at the time.
The SX-70 has a folding body design, a 4-element 116mm f/8 glass lens, and an automatic exposure system. The camera allows manual focus as close as 26.4cm (10.4"), and has a shutter speed range from 1/175s to more than 10 seconds. A variety of models was offered, though all share the same basic design.
