I held a series of three sessions at KPF NY demonstrating severals ways to transform a flat single sheet of paper into a complex form. I demonstrated folds that used both standard origami techniques (square paper, no cutting) and more modern approaches (laser-cut and -scored curves). The square forms date back to the Bauhaus movement and I was inspired by the work I did for Erik and Marty Demaine when choosing the shapes of the curved forms. Special thanks also to Alex Soijka who helped with the video.
University project from 2010 - these are what I put into my final edit.
(The ones I picked were printed with a border, relatively small, hand-sized, & presented in a folded paper packet.)

Some heavy tarpaulin fixed inside a ring, sort of like a giant, folded up rustling cat tunnel. No idea what it was for.
This is how the furniture folds up - it's very ingeniously made so that various pieces like legs and side bits of the washstand fold back into the piece they were cut from. You can also see the stamp saying Patent No. 43297 on most of the pieces.

This is my best friends daughter.. she calls her chubby legs folds.. lol. She's 5 months and has been amazing us since the day she was born!

This fourteenth-century folding almanac features information valuable for medieval medicine. On one side of a sheet is a “vein man”, alongside medical summaries and calendar information; on the other side an “astrological man” displays the signs that rule the body parts. Small drawings of the eclipses are depicted in red and blue, with their dates ranging from 1461 to 1481. The sheets have been folded to fit into a vellum cover, which would have been fitted with a tag so the almanac could be worn by a cord from a girdle.

The Patriot Cup is a gathering of patriots who pilgrimage to Owasso each Memorial Day to thank and honor military families for their sacrifices in defense of freedom.
PGA Tour Players, PGA Golf Professionals and celebrity actors and musicians play alongside decorated military members in a friendly game benefiting Folds of Honor Foundation scholarship program for spouses and dependents of fallen and disabled veterans. Folds of Honor scholarship recipients serve as honorary caddies for the day, as grateful Americans do their small part to give back and simply say "thank you".
When deployed, the in-line member is a bit shorter than the cross piece. This is the result of James Gentles' picavet research.
