We have had some foggy days this winter. The fog creates a magical realm. I became so enchanted I would not have been surprised to see a unicorn walking out of the mist.

This picture was taken in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012. It shows a typical conifer forest while sunbeams are breaking through rising fog on a summer morning.

At the beach. On a cold morning, the fog that steam can be seen rising from the surface of the sea.

A young whitetail deer stopped for a nibble on the side of the road in a local marsh nature area. We had several foggy days in December, but the fog couldn't hide that big furry white tail.
