Back sides of petals of a Christmas Cactus, Schlumbergera sp. It first flowered around Thanksgiving time, so we called it a Thanksgiving Cactus, which apparently is one of several common names. We may now call ours Thanksgiving/Valentine's Cactus.

Actually, it's a fairly small vase, so it filled up fast. Especially over the holdiays. With an upcoming trip to Chile, we need to make room, as Chile makes some of our favorite wines ever.

This is a three photo image, focus stacked to get a deep depth of field that would have been impossible with just one shot.

This was shot with a single moonlight coming in from the upper left. A large mirror and a reflector dish opened up the shadows a bit.

2021-257 Puzzle - A pirate walks into a bar. The bartender notices that there's a steering wheel attached to the pirate's crotch. The bartender says, "You seem to have a steering wheel attached to your crotch." The pirate replies, "Arrr! It's driving me nuts!"

I don't know what the final form of this puzzle is supposed to look like. The kids got rid of the original packaging. It's driving me nuts!

I had recently found this beautiful field of sunflowers. The last days here were quite rainy and as yesterday evening the clouds started to break up a bit I drove back to this field. It was great! before taking this shot I had plenty of different cloud formations in the sky and good light. But as so often theses days finally I end up editing the last picture of a shoot. This is so often the case when I'm shooting during sunset. I usually have enough time to get the whole magic light and sunset, I try around with a couple of compositions and then just before packing up my gear or even after packing up I setup again for a last shot. And in 3 out of 4 shoots this will be the picture I like the most.

This field of sunflowers also was a big challenge in case of composition, it was not easy to find the right flowers for the first row, either there where to few and I had emply corners or it was to much. Here I think I got a nice distribution in the foreground :-) And I loved the dramatic sky as a contrast! Bad weather in germany sometimes also makes for a good shoot, but I'd really prefer the coast again :-)

A Nursery Web Spider (Pisaura mirabilis) on dead wood on the floor in Surrey woodland. It kept still just long enough for a focus-stacked portrait.
