Great Egret and a close flyby in the early morning light

Thank you for viewing

Purple Gallinule (Porphyrio martinicus) Everglades National Park Florida, USA

A beautifully colored bird of southern and tropical wetlands, the Purple Gallinule can be see walking on top of floating vegetation or clambering through dense shrubs. Its extremely long toes help it walk on lily pads without sinking. (Copied from Cornell Lab of Ornithology).

A brief encounter with this female Kestrel allowed me to capture her as she flew by.

LOL! I think I should clarify that this is a sculpture. One of my favorites at Lake Eola.

We weren't hopeful of seeing any more Short eared Owl's before the autumn

But as luck would have it!

Ann's favourite owl and it's up near the top of my list as well

Well, it wasn't really a "flyby" - more like a hop to the next choice bloom. Sea lavender target with those California poppies in the background. Yes, I was purposely trying to line up the poppies. Bees didn't necessarily cooperate but this one nailed it.

This duck was approaching one of the lakes at Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, and I got a few shots as it was descending.

Yeah, I know, another bittern in flight along Horsepen Bayou. But I can't help it that they are so much fun to shoot. Still only males have returned so far this spring unless their mates are hiding in the reeds.

Looking at this fly , I pondered , what if flowers were as big as a minivan , the power of the smell ! What would happen to the perfume industry ? :)

Everybody on the bayou wanted to get in on the spoonbill action. Greater Yellowlegs taking off from Horsepen Bayou.

A Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus) hunts for prey at sunset. I spent a memorable afternoon this past December photographing these birds. I set up my equipment on a small platform near where they usually hunt, giving me a good vantage point. Luckily, the owls came fairly close a few times, providing nice opportunities for shots. The marsh was awash with golden light, illuminating the owls in a gorgeous way a photo does not do justice to!

Juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron

Loggerhead Shrike in flight.

Had a fun time watching this Shrike hunting insects.

I did not think this shot possible in the crappy conditions yesterday

As always, many thanks for taking the time to view, fave and comment. That's very much appreciated
