This Great Egret flew across the lake at Orlando Wetlands, Florida. It was beginning nest building, and flew to another area for twigs and branches for the nest.
This egret is transitioning to breeding plumage/color. It will remain white, but its bill will become more orange and its facial skin will become greenish. It has already begun developing long plumes trailing alongside its black legs
The little Ruby-throated hummers zip by at high speed and ocasionally put up their tail to slow down. I got about twenty shots in this flyby and saw the tail go up. Quite a complex little bird.
Recently, I rediscovered this photograph as I was going through some of my older files. This was taken one early morning last summer. Some of you may recognize this unique structure from past photographs that I have taken of it. This lovely building is the old water works, found on Windsor, Ontario’s riverfront. I just love the structure, and it’s unique architecture and lovely masonry. The seagulls also love to spend time perching on this building.

A Short-eared Owl cruising by! The SEOW was searching for a vole meal. Photo taken at the Shillapoo Wildlife Area, in Vancouver, Washington.
The Killdeer were very active at Shillapoo Lake in Vancouver, Washington. It is nesting season, so quite a few were flying in circles and voicing their shrill, wailing kill-deer call they give so often!
I drove to Agua Caliente park early this morning. It was pretty slow, not a lot of wildlife. There are maybe ten Mallard ducks, a half dozen Ringneck ducks, and one female Merganser on the big pond. I did enjoy about twenty minutes of observing this Great Egret eating minnows on one of the small back ponds. I took this photo at Agua Caliente park east of Tucson Arizona USA.
A Green Heron Flyby at Commonwealth Lake! There were two Green Heron parents actively fishing as they were busy feeding 5 Green Heron Chicks.
A Trumpeter Swan flyby at Shillapoo Wildlife Area! The very loud bugling call drew my attention to the flyby!

I was down at the lake on Saturday. It was cold and raining, and the usual suspects were on the lake, not making much of a display. But, a pair of egrets would occasionally move from one location to another. I was fortunate to capture one of those moments as this one flew past some of the fall trees. I have others with more color, but I love the light through the outstretched wing on this shot, so chose it as the showcase.
One of the more unique looking birds of prey we have around here. The white/silver eye really makes it stand out.
I think this is a Green Winged Teal, if I am wrong let me know. I took this photo at Sweetwater Wetland park in west Tucson Arizona USA
Juvenile black crowned night heron. These birds as juveniles look very different from the adults. The adults are toped in black with a very white breast and gray in between. The one thing that the juveniles and adults both share though, is amazingly colored eyes. I took this photo at Gilbert water Ranch, in Gilbert Arizona USA.
We saw quite a few of these Brown Pelican's. This one was the closest that flew by. Barnegat Lighthouse State Park NJ.
