It was snowing poplar fluff on the Toronto Islands.

The Anna's hummingbirds over winter in our area. Last nite we had one of our rare snowfalls. This little bird was doing a lot of sitting probably to conserve energy. It has its feathers all fluffed up to make it look almost twice its usual size.

our Ragdoll boy Moses 3 month ~ little one have to find his spot next to our 1 year old Siamese. But he learns to fight back🐅 guess a boy thing?!

This isn't a dandelion. What kind of flower does this besides dandelions? I can't figure out which flower turned. It's bigger and sturdier than a dandelion.

EDIT -- just figured it out. It's yellow salsify.

White-browed Coucal Centropus superciliosus

The White-browed Coucal, sometimes referred to as the Lark-heeled Cuckoo, is a species of cuckoo in the Cuculidae family. It is found in sub-Saharan Africa. It inhabits areas with thick cover afforded by rank undergrowth and scrub, including in suitable coastal regions.

Goldfinch........Carduelis carduelis

Greenfinch on apple tree.

This Green Heron is a regular visitor at the pond. He is quite friendly and lets me come very close for photos. I watched him preening for a long time and when he was done, he gave himself a great shake and all these tiny bits of fluff went flying into the air. A nice experience! :)

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Enjoy!

This picture is for the group Happy Caturday and this week the theme is "Patterns & Paws".

Elijah decided to sit still long enough to get a photo of his cute paws and fluffy sides. :) He and Noah have an identical black circle in the same place which you can see on Elijah's left side (the right side in this picture)... directly behind his arm. I always thought that was kind of neat.

Chiffchaffs aren't quite enjoying the hotter temperatures in the south up here.

Fresh winter 'jewels' of snow, mostly air. Two inches (5cm) of lofty fluff.

Manchurian Crane youngster at Pensthorpe Natural Park, Norfolk.

We're all taking note of the excessive amount of sunshine we've been having lately but clearly robin can't get enough of it as he/she is out there every afternoon fluffing feathers and stretching out to absorb maximum Vitamin D.

Snowy Egrets (Egretta thula) in The Creek, a tidal estuary surrounded by salt marsh and fortuitously close to a road. Revisiting a sweet scene, with a bigger feather display.

Black-capped Chickadee perched on a small twig sticking out of the snow.

It was sometime in January as I headed into Algonquin to do some winter wildlife and bird photography. During this season I tend to photography the Canada Jay, Pine Martens and obviously the Chickadee as these are usually the more common species out and about in the winter. Well not to mention ravens also, While at this one location I saw this little twig sticking out of the snow, so I got low and waited for someone to land. It didn't take long and this little chickadee obliged me and posed here long enough for me to get a decent shot.

“How wonderful it would be if one could only be worthy of hearing the song of the grass. Each blade of grass sings out to God without any ulterior motive, and without expecting any reward. It’s most wonderful to hear its song, and worship God in its midst”

-Rebbe Nachman of Breslav, (Sichot Haran 163).

I don't know for sure, but I suspect this yellow-headed blackbird was collecting cattail fluff to line a nest. This photo was taken at Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge in southeast Idaho.
