A return 4 day trip to RSPB Bempton on the 5th June with 3 Photo buddies. The weather was very cold for June, very unexpected.
Day 3
Onshore wind, Brighter, but still bitterly cold in the wind.
The Northern Gannet on the left shows the distinctive Black Eye that occurs on Gannets that have caught Avian Bird Flu but have survived. The Gannet on the right has the normal Eye.
It is not known if the Black Eye will return to normal over time.
Avian Flu, or Bird Flu, affects poultry and wild birds.
The current outbreak is of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), which can cause severe disease and high mortality. This current strain has been devastating our wild bird populations in the UK since November 2021. It originated in poultry operations in China in 1996.
The most recent series of Bird Flu outbreaks ( 2022-2023 ) is unprecedented – the largest ever in the UK and worldwide – and has killed tens of thousands of birds in the UK alone.

I've got a case of the man-flu, so rather than drag myself out with the camera on a cold Sunday I thought I'd go back through the 2014 archives to see what was missed. This is one from back in March.

Today was flu jab day and a good job it wasn't raining, coz from joining the back of the queue, it took 25 minutes to get through the doors.
This is for the 365 treasure hunt, number 54 Queue.
** It seems that Jian Ni caught the flu from me. Today I met her surrounded by tea, pills, drops and lots of kleenex. :/ The blanket was a gift from my dear friend Joana Costa and it is very comfortable in this rainy and windy days. I hope that your weekend will be better than ours. :) **
Went up the rock yesterday to take photos of the sunset.
Somehow one of the seagulls got really angry and started to attack me. He didn't touch me but flew round over round very close, even using some good ol' dogfight taktics like attacking with the sun behind him.
Well, didn't work on me, but I got some nice shots. This is my favorite one, capturing the excitement that was going on only a step away from a 400m drop.
Deimos: "I didn`t know that a Gargoyle can get the flu... Here is your soup."

Singularly the worst photo I have ever taken. Day 5 of my flu and I feel like I'm getting worse, not better. But I'll be damned if flu will defeat me entirely. So this is how I feel, blurry, spinning, and decidedly dizzy. On the every cloud has a silver lining side, can't eat without chucking up so weight loss is occurring :)
Yay for my netbook, means I can write this while I'm tucked up in bed.
