I was down and out most of the weekend with a flu. The animals know something is wrong and they just wait it out patiently and quietly with me. Every now and then Yuki would open her eyes and check on me. Feeling much better today.

Here she is finally. Stage Three of the Erawan Waterfalls in Thailand.
Here too you can immerse yourself in the turquoise and crystal clear water, which quickly makes you forget the heat outside.
And if you put your feet in the water or stand still in the middle of the pool for a while, small bright fish come by and remove excess skin from your feet.
I did the latter and after a very short time I had at least 5 or 6 fish on each foot.
When you have recovered from the initial shock because you didn't pass it, it's an unusual but pleasant feeling.
There are places where you pay a lot of money for this foot wellness treatment. Here it only takes a little bit of self conquest.

Auch hier kann man eintauchen in türkiesfarbenes und kristallklares Wasser welches die Hitze außerhalb schnell vergessen lässt.
Und wenn Du Deine Füße ins Wasser hältst oder in der Mitte des Pools eine Weile still stehst, kommen kleine helle Fische vorbei, die Deine Füße von überflüssiger Haut befreien.
Ich hab letzteres gemacht und ich hatte nach kürzester Zeit mindestens 5 oder 6 Fische an jedem Fuß.
Wenn Du Dich vom ersten Schreck erholt hat, weil Du nicht darauf vorbeitet warst, ist das ein ungewöhnliches aber durchaus angenehmes Gefühl.
Es gibt Orte an denen bezahlt man eine Menge Geld für diese Fuß-Wellness-Behandlung. Hier kostet es nur ein klein bisschen Überwindung.

All you lovely friends must be wondering as to where I vanished. I am down with Flu and my eyes burn when I watch TV or computer screen. I just got online today to post this message for all of you so that you know that your loyal friend has not gone anywhere. Avian flu is taking a heavy toll on populations of seabirds around the British Isles. I was fortunate to make a trip to the Shetland Isles for GUVS and to have a small amount of time for photography before the return ferry trip. Reports of affected colonies of seabirds in the Firth of Forth are very concerning. It is difficult to see how these beautiful creatures will ride out this disease.

Der Bietigheimer Eisenbahnviadukt ist eine Eisenbahnbrücke über das Enztal bei Bietigheim-Bissingen und eines der Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Er wurde von 1851 bis 1853 als Teil der württembergischen Westbahn Bietigheim–Bruchsal unter der Leitung von Baurat Karl Etzel erbaut.

Ein durchgehender, attraktiver Fuß- und Radweg verläuft - seit der Verlagerung des Straßenverkehrs im Zuge der Landesgartenschau 1989 - hier im Enztal.
Die knapp 20 m hohe, natürliche Wobach-Felswand wurde durch die Erosionskraft der Enz freigelegt und bietet eine passende Kulisse für die Informationstafeln und Gesteinsformationen, die dem Besucher Einblicke in die Erdgeschichte Baden-Württembergs geben.

The Werre Meadow in October. Löhne, Ostwestfalen. Germany
Saturday I was a little bit lazy and went to the Werre Meadow. Located only a few hundred meters behind my house the area is very popular for walking dogs, hiking and canoeing.
The Werre is a tiny little river and flows into the Weser near Bad Oeynhausen in Northwest Germany, the Werre Meadow is an area with open fields, small forests and paths. The perfect hike is a bridge-to bridge turnaround near Löhne allowing to experience nature on both river banks.
well, last week we joined the other 800,000 California residents in a utility company initiated power outage.
on Tuesday we prepared.
leon got gas for the generator, filled buckets of water, and we checked all the lanterns and flashlights for working batteries.
the power went off a couple of hours later.
we are all-electric, therefore we have no way to use the stove, oven, or microwave. we have no water because the pump to the well runs on electricity. we can't take a bath or shower or flush the toilets.
leon runs a cable to the refrigerators and the freezer. he ran the coffee pot off the kitchen cord. [we always have bottled water on hand so we can have coffee and the dogs can have water.]
and even tho' it was chilly at night, we had a fire in the woodstove. [we have no central heating] and I discovered that my clock in my bedroom has a battery backup. I'd forgotten.
I always have books to read next to the battery-operated camp lantern.
leon has a radio that runs on batteries and he could listen to outage reports and music.
our entire town and surrounding areas were shut down.
we were lucky.
our power came back on Thursday.
three hours later I got intestinal flu'. it's a good thing the power was back on.
I finally got up this morning [Sunday] and did some laundry and folded it.
I emptied the dishwasher. I checked the greenhouse and watered.
I ate some cold cereal.
I went back to bed.
I had some noodles for dinner and a bit of salad.
I am back in bed.
tomorrow will be better.
I've actually been feeling as old as I look. blech...
I'm fine... We're fine..Everythings FIIIINNNNEEEEEEE
