Already 5000 before Christ there was a settlement on thiat place. In the year 179 the roman emperor Marcus Aurelius let built a military camp here. A very nice city with lots of history and stories.
Bereits 5.000 Jahre vor Chistus gab es an dieser Stelle eine Siedlung. Im Jahre 179 errichtete der röhmische Kaiser Marcus Aurelius hier ein Heerlager. Eine sehr schöne Stadt mit unglaublich viel Geschichte und Geschichten.
Sie besteht aus einer Reihe alter Wohnhäuser aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, die auf der Bamberger Regnitzinsel direkt am Ufer des linken Arms der Regnitz liegen, und bildet die Kulisse für das im August stattfindende Fischerstechen bei der so genannten Sandkerwa (Sandkirchweih), dem größten Volksfest Bambergs.
It consists of a row of old residential buildings from the 17th century, which are located on Bamberg's Regnitzinsel directly on the bank of the left arm of the Regnitz, and forms the backdrop for the jousting that takes place in August at the so-called Sandkerwa (Sandkirchweih), the largest folk festival Bamberg's.

Been feeling really down since hearing about the avian flu hitting seabird colonies like this one. I remember seeing a gannet washed up on a beach in Lindisfarne in May and, seeing no injury, assumed it died of natural causes. 1 month later and I read about the catastrophe that is unfolding in seabird colonies around the UK. This image was taken last year. I've heard the number of gannets on Bass Rock is frighteningly low compared to what it should be.

All you lovely friends must be wondering as to where I vanished. I am down with Flu and my eyes burn when I watch TV or computer screen. I just got online today to post this message for all of you so that you know that your loyal friend has not gone anywhere. Ik was vorige week op Ameland waar ik tientallen dode wilde vogels heb zien liggen, waaronder deze meerkoet.
Het is een heel groot probleem.
Bird Flu is a big problem here in the Netherlands. A lot of wild birds die because of it.

Der Bietigheimer Eisenbahnviadukt ist eine Eisenbahnbrücke über das Enztal bei Bietigheim-Bissingen und eines der Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Er wurde von 1851 bis 1853 als Teil der württembergischen Westbahn Bietigheim–Bruchsal unter der Leitung von Baurat Karl Etzel erbaut.

Ein durchgehender, attraktiver Fuß- und Radweg verläuft - seit der Verlagerung des Straßenverkehrs im Zuge der Landesgartenschau 1989 - hier im Enztal.
Die knapp 20 m hohe, natürliche Wobach-Felswand wurde durch die Erosionskraft der Enz freigelegt und bietet eine passende Kulisse für die Informationstafeln und Gesteinsformationen, die dem Besucher Einblicke in die Erdgeschichte Baden-Württembergs geben.

As the weather is not so great today and I had a 'flu jab yesterday I thought something macro might be in order.
Two newly hatched cygnets this evening snuggled up under their mother's wing at Abbotsbury Swannery, Dorset, UK. I believe they were born today due to their size and had not hatched on Sunday.

Die Stadt Frankfurt am Main feiert Ende August immer das wieder das Museumsuferfest und tausende Leute strömen dahin. 27 Museen, 12 Bühnen und etwa 400 Stände an beiden Ufern des Mains zu einem einzigartigen kulturellen Festival mit einem vielfältigen und kreativen Programm. Gastlandes war diesmal Korea. Das Finale ist immer das Feuerwerk das auch jedes Mal ein Land
The zoo closest to me announced through social media, yesterday, that wild birds nearby had tested positive for avian flu. Therefore, no birds, except the emus and the ostriches, will be on exhibit, effective immediately. This is the biggest quarantine the zoo has undertaken since the avian flu epidemic began.
The emus and ostriches will remain outdoors because there is no room for them in any of the buildings!
