Stem of the Floss-Silk Tree. In its native Brazil, the tree is planted commonly in parks. The floss from its seeds was used to stuff pillow cases.

All the dark fabrics are quilted with regular off white quilt thread, the light blocks are quilted with mint green embroidery floss.

Fairy floss is spun sugar and comes in pink and blue. It is a treat of pure sugar.

"Fairy floss" is what wacky Australians call cotton candy. The name has always struck me as sickeningly twee, but I think it's appropriate in this case.

 

100% merino, hand dyed with Koolaid. I'm going to get this one up in my shop in the next few days - still have to set the twist, though.

One of my other new year's projects, along with 365, is to try to floss on a more regular basis. I'm not particularly consistent with it. Today was especially important, as I have a dentist appointment tomorrow!
