Bob and Craig Floss in Jasper County operate a 6th generation family farm with a combination of corn, soybeans, CRP, timber reserve, and pasture. They use no-till on the entire operation, and also incorporate cover crops on the row crop acres. Their nutrient management strategy includes soil grid sampling, precision variable rate application, and a nitrification inhibitor. They use rotational grazing patterns for their cattle operation. Additionally, they have installed two bioreactors, several terraces, and grassed waterways. The Flosses have a lifelong commitment to conservation. They are active in the Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau, and Iowa Cattleman’s Association. They are motivated to maintain soil vitality and water quality, and to preserve land for future generations.
