Okay, so I'd never pick those lamps out of a line-up, but designing a room where they work so fabulously takes some panache, no? Especially if it's a studio apartment! That's what decorator Alan Tanksley did in his Manhattan digs. The ebonized oak Egyptian Revival chair is from Kraft antiques in Southampton; the Jean Royère coffee/dining table swivels and changes height. A Clarence House ikat covers the armchair in the right corner. No word on where he found the lamps...

In this living room, walls are painted Sailor's Knot by Ralph Lauren. If you can't find RL paint, American White by Benjamin Moore and Desert Star by Behr are very close matches.

I love the mix of color, pattern, and texture in this living room. The angles of the floor lamp are a nice contrast to the ultra-feminine Klismos chair, too.

A very decent haul of group gifts at the 2nd anniversary round of the Access event

See my blog for the deets: billybeaverhausen.com/2020/06/24/access-event-2nd-anniver...

A composition for the Group, Compositionally Challenged.

I had intended shining a light on a wall, and using a rose or similar as a silhouette. Then I thought why not make the lamp the silhouette as well. I guess I've seen something similar before, and dredged it out of the sub concious.

Border added in Picassa.

No, not at all - simple shot of a floor lamp with the light bulb smack in the middle, well you would expect that!!

Day 26 - January 26, 2010

A few years back Korea-novelas were all the rage here in the Philippines. I never really had the time nor the interest to follow any of them, except for one series - Stairway To Heaven.

Coincidentally there was a discussion at work today about the show, particularly about how it took audiences on an emotional marathon, made us all hope for a happy ending, and then left us with nothing but bittersweet tragedy.

Life's like that, we don't always get the ending that we want or even deserve BUT that doesn't mean we cannot have our happy ever after.

Was with some close friends tonight when I took this photo, and I'm quite sure a happy ever after is coming their way pretty soon.

This slide is dated January 1960, so I'm assuming that these Christmas gifts are from December 1959.

The blue chair, table, and curtains are also visible in another slide: Here's the Lady You Ordered! Where Do You Want Us to Put Her?

"Trust me Stark, y'got my personal guarantee there's absolutely no alcohol in this..."

-----------------------------------------------

(Anthony Stark and Bender the Robot are trained cybernetically augmented professional alcoholics. Do not try this at home unless 'home' happens to be Krypton, Kronos, or Arkham Asylum. Besides, it's not booze, it's really just a no-name brand cola.)

Another shot taken on the "Stark Laboratory" set. Gotta love the Marvel legends action figures..so articulate! (Pity this is a silent picture.) Oddly enuff, I didn't know I.M's visor came off until I took this picture...if I had I might have used him as the stunt-drinker ("Make mine a double!") in the first Irony Man group scene. Or is that the second? Stark's in charge of continuity and he's...you know. Either that or I've Lucased the episode numbers.

That Bender, what a trooper! (And he works for booze.) It's the figure that comes with the Suicide Booth. This Mark of I.M is the Silver Centurion variant. They've done a fine job with the face sculpt in particular.

Piccky's lit from above using a halogen globe floorlamp bounced off the ceiling plus a desklamp for additional fill. Not much photoshopping in this one. Sharpened the label on the bottle of Old Fortran and brightened Bender's teeth. Oh, and the border...which is digital and not down to drinking. Really.

I really wasn't going to do another entry but... well... uhm... I got this bed and...
