Location, architecture and history
Platform of the old floating station (2008)
The Völklinger Straße stop is located in Unterbarmen, close to the police headquarters and the employment agency.
The suspended railway station Völklinger Straße is one of three stations (the other two are Landgericht and Werther Brücke), which were rebuilt faithfully in Art Nouveau style. Like all Barmer stations (with the exception of Werther Brücke and Alter Markt), it represented the type without a saddle roof and only with roofing of the platforms as a counter-draft to the Elberfeld standard floating station. Since the reconstruction of the stations Wupperfeld, Adlerbrücke and Loher Brücke, it is the last remaining representative of this kind besides the station Landgericht. It was dismantled from autumn 2011 to mid-2012 and rebuilt in a form-identical manner.
This is a heavy solid glass ball with magical powers to capture flowers inside its sphere and float around the room like a bubble.
It's actually my humble attempt for Smile on Saturday's theme "levitation photography". It's not my best work, but the best I could do with time limitations of not having my laptop and photoshop till today. I've felt like a fish out of water since last Sunday without it.
Storm - Lifehouse
How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form
Water's getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head
If I could just see you
Everything would be alright
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright
I know you didn't bring me out here to drown
So why am I ten feet under and upside down?
Barely surviving has become my purpose
'Cause I'm so used to living underneath the surface
If I could just see you
Everything would be alright
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright

Floating Earth by Luke Jerram at Media City.
Owain the drumming weatherman was stood about 15 foot to my left preparing for NW Tonight.
All a little too bling for me these days and whilst my pre-paid parking at the Premier Inn went smoothly, my planned dining location of the adjacent Beefeater had to be left for another day due to an over indulgence at the street food festival in front of The Quays.
Manchester as vibrant as ever.
American Lotus (Nelumbo Lutea) emerge from the shallow waters (unlike water lilies whose flowers and leaves float on the surface) at Sheldon Lake State Park. Trees include bald cypress (Taxodium distichum)..
... and the invasive Chinese Tallow Tree (Triadica sebifera, also known as Sapium sebiferum), an aggressive tree in Texas and the Southeatern United States. It is drought AND flood tolerant, grows in a variety of soil and light conditions, and it provides a wonderful fall display of yellow, orange and red. Too successful, its leaves even produce a toxin that prohibits other plants from growing around it (reason enough to eliminate this volunteer from your garden). So unless you make your own soap or candlewax, consider a native tree instead. It's regrettable to equate success with weediness, in any species.

The castle was built between 1350 and 1375. In 1534 Renswoude was recognised as a knight royal residence. In 1623 castle Borchwal already expire as Johan van Reede become the owner . This Calvinistic priest finds a church more important than the rebuilding, of his own castle. In the house, on its property where Protestant meetinings kept, the house become much too small. He gets authorisation to build its own church near the castle. This fine cupola church was taken in 1641 in use. Then late Johan van Reede demolishes in 1654 the old castle and build the new, current castle.
The castle park developed itself as from that time slowly in a baroque park, with a straight alley pattern. In 1682 Johan are succeeded by his third zoon, Frederik Adriaan. He was married with Maria Duyst van Voorhout. During the absence of her man she let dig now the Grand still existing canal, compared with the castle alley. Because of this big work, much unemployed persons could helped with the work. But it had been especially intended as a surprise for her man, They are Versailles lgarden overs in that time, so they build there own French garden. On 28 November 1985 there was a big fire on the castle. The fire made a damage of millions of guldens. All the next day, they started with setting up wharf and rebuild the damage. This was reached by the energy of the current owner, baron Taets van Amerongen. In the meantime the castle has been restored entirely. For groups the castle be visit.
I found that I was very familiar with mixing oil, food coloring and water together. Watching the circles zoom past my macro lens was always a dizzy experience, yet I yearned for something a bit new. Then I plopped one drop of liquid red food coloring into the center of several circles of oil. Suddenly I was watching rubies sliding by!
Located at the highest point in Helshoven, this floating chapel is the new attraction in the Haspengouw region in Belgium. Artist Frits Jeuris created the chapel from cherry trees. These trees fell prey to the Little Cherry Virus that causes too small fruits. Through this artwork they are given a second life and symbolize the dynamic landscape of Haspengouw. Stopped at the Snake River Overlook where Ansel Adams took his iconic b/w shot of the Tetons. That was back when the trees were shorter and you could still see the curve of the river.
Taken in September when the water was nice and clear.
The Teton peaks were crowned with clouds this day so took this shot of these lucky folks floating this special river. Wouldn't that be grand?
Have a wonderful weekend!
These animals are a mystery for me, absolutely fascinating and so beautiful. Spending their lifes floating through the sea. No brain inside, no bones, no eyes.. What a strange way of life.
