All good things must come to an end. In this case, it's the classic large-red traffic signals that are flanking a large-green left turn signal. As you can see, the replacements are already tied up, waiting for the date they can be turned on, erasing another little bit of coolness from Michigan's streets.

Even though this a regular view for me i cant help but imagine how life must of been like here in 1277.
This was taken with a 10 stop neutral density filter which slows the camera down, this shot was a 90 second exposure & this is how the streaky clouds are formed.

I grew up on the opposite side of the Dee estuary looking out (five miles) onto this castle, I even walked across the marches and sand banks on low tides to get close, (not recommended) on a few times. Built in 1277 as a defense for the conquering English king Edward I, part of the 'Iron ring' around Northern Wales.

It's been in the news for a while, and will probably be in the news for a while to come. I shot this back in January when I was in Flint scouting locations to drop off donated water.
Among the many unusual objects in the Sam Houston State University Natural Collections Museum was a case of arrowheads made by Mr. Robert Turbeville, an avocational archeologist from Mineola, Texas. These were made from San Marcos flint.
Couldn't find much about him beyond the fact that there is an archeological site named for him near the Sabine River. Huntsville, Texas, June 2022.
watercolor sketch - Fairly quick little painting of a view across the Kansas Flint Hills in the fall. Initially it looks pretty bleak this time of year but when you look close there are some really great colors happening.
The prairie grasses were blowing in the wind in the foreground so I experimented a little bit with how to show them. I used an X-acto knife and scraped through the pigment down to the bare paper. Something new for me . . .

The castle is based on medieval French Design with a large Round Tower (showing to the Left in the Above) Called a Donjon In more recent Time the Donjon was the Town Jail for s short Time Unfortunately during the English Civil war Cromwell Ordered the Castle be Destroyed as it was a Stronghold for the King
As Flint Developed the stone was Robbed out for local building work I suspect The Current Town Hall building the Mid 19th Cent has some of the Castle stone
