Artefactual evidence recovered from an Early Neolithic house in 2012 suggests that the structure was used, at least for some of the time as a dwelling. This includes these arrowheads recovered from the foundations of the building.

This is a former Holiday Inn on Bristol Road near Bishop Airport in Flint. According to a local historian, Keith Moon of The Who got kicked out of this motel during a birthday party, after he crashed his car into the swimming pool.
The motel became a Days Inn in the mid-1980s, and in it last few years of life, Rodeway Inn took the westernmost guest wing. The entire complex abruptly closed in 2009, although I think the Rodeway part closed a bit later than the Days Inn part.
I'm surprised that Days Inn never saw fit to remodel it; it's still very obviously a Holiday Inn.
BUCKEYE LAKE FLINT MAN?
I have identified what appears to be a worked cobble of Flint Ridge flint which strongly resembles a life-size human skull, and human facial profiles, from multiple viewing angles and distances. It stands upright on its own base (anatomically the neck) and would have made a suitable sculpture for display or ceremonial alter use. It has possible hand grips from the rear as if to animate the skull by having fine control of its movement pivoting on its base, puppet-like. I found the piece on my property at 306 Lake Shore Dr W in Hebron, Ohio, Licking Township, Licking County. When my home foundation was dug to a depth of about 6 feet, some flint blocks (flint ridge, coschocton black, cherts, etc) were found, along with other hardstone rocks, and saved for use in a rock garden, piled rising three feet up to my screened porch overlooking what was once called “buffalo swamp.” This piece has likely been sitting, exposed, since 1937, in this rock garden until I picked it up and was startled to find a face looking back at me. When it then sat perfectly balanced in the upright “statue” pose, I determined there was too much happening with this stone to leave it outside any longer. It is a flint base with a possible addition of a concrete material as filler where no flint was present, and finished in a white plaster of which there may be some residual material. The piece weighs 12.1 lbs, an anatomically correct weight for the head of an approximately 150lb human. It has discernable and dramatic eye sockets, forehead, a nose, mouth, ears, neck, fully rounded skull. It can be appreciated from every angle as you walk around the sculpture. The aesthetic of the human form is unmistakable in multiple expressions.
The artifact is so perfectly balanced on its base, I was confident enough to place it on top of a Ball canning jar and a terry washcloth as a display pedestal. AI large part of the weight of the artifact, almost ½ is weighted toward the rear of the skull which hangs. However, the slightest nudge and the weight of the entire object is thrown and it topples over.
Now, the business of studying this thing.

(CNN)Flint, Michigan, lies about 70 miles from the shores of the largest group of fresh water bodies in the world: the Great Lakes. Yet its residents can't get clean water from their taps.

Nearly two years ago, the state decided to save money by switching Flint's water supply from Lake Huron (which they were paying the city of Detroit for), to the Flint River, a notorious tributary that runs through town known to locals for its filth.
"We thought it was a joke," said Rhonda Kelso, a long-time Flint resident. "People my age and older, thought 'They're not going to do that.' "
The switch was made during a financial state of emergency for the ever-struggling industrial town. It was supposed to be temporary while a new state-run supply line to Lake Huron was ready for connection. The project was estimated to take about two years.
What's in the water?
Soon after the switch, the water started to look, smell and taste funny. Residents said it often looked dirty.

"The water would come in brown and my daughter was like 'Mom ... why is the water brown?' "
Kelso thought it was sewage, but it was actually iron. The Flint River is highly corrosive: 19 times more so than the Lake Huron supply, according to researchers from Virginia Tech.
According to a class-action lawsuit, the state Department of Environmental Quality wasn't treating the Flint River water with an anti-corrosive agent, in violation of federal law. Therefore, the water was eroding the iron water mains, turning water brown.
But what residents couldn't see was far worse. About half of the service lines to homes in Flint are made of lead and because the water wasn't properly treated, lead began leaching into the water supply, in addition to the iron.
This had been the status quo for nearly two years, and until September, city and state officials told worried residents that everything was fine. Former Flint Mayor Dayne Walling even drank it on local TV to make the point.
The city is now issuing bottled water to Flint residents.

But in August, a group of skeptical researchers from Virginia Tech came up and did in-home testing and found elevated levels of lead in the drinking water and made those findings public. State officials insisted their own research was more accurate.
"You're paying for poison. I'm paying for water that's a toxic waste," Kelso said. She and her daughter and four other families are now part of a class-action lawsuit that alleges not only lead poisoning but several medical conditions resulting from contaminated water after the switch. CNN sought responses from all the defendants, and many did not respond.
Later it became publicly known that federal law had not been followed. A 2011 study on the Flint River found it would have to be treated with an anti-corrosive agent for it to be considered as a safe source for drinking water.
Adding that agent would have cost about $100 a day, and experts say 90% of the problems with Flint's water would have been avoided.
But Flint residents say they were kept in the dark for 18 months until a local doctor took things into her own hands.

Flint is the largest city and county seat of Genesee County, Michigan. Located along the Flint River, 66 miles (106 km) northwest of Detroit, it is a principal city within the region known as "Mid Michigan". According to the 2010 census, Flint has a population of 102,434, making it the seventh largest city in Michigan.
The Flint metropolitan area is located entirely within Genesee County. It is the fourth largest metropolitan area in Michigan with a population of 425,790 in 2010.
Founded as a village by fur trader Jacob Smith in 1819, Flint became a major lumbering area on the historic Saginaw Trail during the 19th century, and incorporated as a city in 1855. It later became a leading manufacturer of carriages and other vehicles earning it the nickname "Vehicle City".
In 1908, William Crapo Durant formed General Motors in Flint, and it was later the home of the Flint Sit-Down Strike of 1936–37 that played a vital role in the formation of the United Auto Workers. After World War II, Flint became an automobile manufacturing powerhouse for GM's Buick and Chevrolet divisions, both of which were founded in Flint. However, by the late 1980s the city sank into a deep economic depression after GM closed and demolished several factories in the area, the effects of which remain today.
In the mid-2000s, it became known for its high crime rates. Since this time, Flint has been ranked among the "Most Dangerous Cities in the United States", with a per capita violent crime rate seven times higher than the national average. The city was under a state of financial emergency from 2011 to 2015, the second in a decade. It is currently in a public health state of emergency due to lead poisoning (and possibly Legionella) in the local water supply.
On November 3, 2015, Flint residents elected Karen Weaver as their first female mayor.

Flint was rescued together with Marmite in 2018. They both had an awful start in life being kept in a cage for much of their early months. They are both enjoying freedom with their friends at the Sanctuary.
