One of my two Lhasa Apso dogs, taking part in his favourite pastime....
The Lhasa Apso has a long history in his country of origin, Tibet. They have existed at least since the year 800 A.D., and for centuries they lived in isolation with Tibetan Buddhists in the Himalayan Mountains.
Their Tibetan Name Means “Bark Lion Sentinel Dog”.
This stone tool was made at Butser Ancient Farm on a Lithics Course. It is not an ancient stone tool but made by a skilled craftsman. The chips on the flint make the sharp edge, which make it a very efficient tool.

The darker facets are selected black flints.
Here is a vertorama of the Flint River as it bisects Richfield County Park, November 13, 2022. Richfield is Genesee County's first park, founded in 1935 and received WPA development efforts shortly thereafter. I took this from what was called the "highway bridge" built back then. It is a two-lane bridge with nice step-up sidewalks....for photos like this! Thank-you, WPA!
This building's flint chequered exterior stonework echoes a chequered and contrasting dark and light history.
Trinity Guildhall of King’s Lynn dates from the 1420s. It was originally the meeting place of the religious Guild of Merchants of the Holy Trinity. The Guild was abolished at the English Reformation of Henry VIII.
The hall's uses darkened. Half became a prison - the remainder a House of Correction for those "unwilling to work". A courtroom was added in 1767 to ensure an adequate supply of inmates,. The town gaoler had a house built next door in 1784. Cells were still used as the town lock-up until 1937!
For the comforts of other half, Georgian Assembly Rooms and a Card Room were added in 1768. The building is now the Town Hall with function spaces for more cheerful events like weddings.

Dashing about Bookham this morning doing a few urgent chores I had to cross the road near the Squareabout at the crossroads - and waiting for a gap in the traffic I could not fail to notice the flint wall of the church is now covered in some lovely blue flowers . Well , the chores had to wait for a few moments while I grabbed the P&S from my backpack and grab a couple of shots for all to see .
Note :- Some of you may well remember my recent shot of the big American yellow bus in the pub car park which is behind me as I take this shot , well the pub has changed hands a couple of weeks back and the big yellow bus is no longer there anymore !!
This was the steward's building known as Flint Cottage at Broome Park, near Barham, Kent. Lord Kitchener lived here for five years.

After waiting for the Z126 to clear, Lake State Railway's Y119 has the OK to depart as they pull down to the south end of Saginaw Yard. A pair of SD70Ms, led by the newly-painted Pere Marquette heritage unit, leads the way.
Soon the prescribed burns will be happening in the hills and things will begin to turn green. It's an evey year ritual with the ranchers. Burning keeps the woody vegetation such cedar trees, roughleaf dogwood, sumac and others. The green grass provides lots of nutrients in the spring for the cattle. Cattle will gain about 40% of their weight then.

A small cairn made with 5 flints picked up from the field on my morning walk with the dog and 5 holly berries - indicative of a hard winter to come.
Flint Castle was the first of a series of castles built during King Edward I's campaign to conquer Wales. The site was chosen for its strategic position in north east Wales. The castle was only one day's march from Chester, supplies could be brought along the River Dee and there was a ford across to England that could be used at low tide.
When work ceased in 1286, Flint Castle had an inner ward and an outer bailey. They were separated by a tidal moat and were connected with gatehouse and drawbridge. During the English Civil War, Flint Castle was held by the Royalists. It was finally captured by the Parliamentarians in 1647 after a three-month siege. To prevent its reuse in the conflict, the castle was then slighted in accordance with Cromwell's destruction order. The ruins are what remain today.
I think I like the vertical better than the horizontal . But, of course, it never shows better on a computer screen.
