During my work-from-home time, I took my brief breaks outside to enjoy the pleasant spring weather of the afternoon. Of course, Sunshine the happy cat, had to be cute. She was rolling around on the grass, hoping for a nice belly rub.
Of course, with all of the cuteness going on, I had to take some phone photos. I ran this one through Snapchat, adding Friday.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. There is something to be said for authenticity.
When it comes to my pictures, I try to keep the image processing as natural as possible to the original subject photographed.
With artistic expression authenticity, I keep to possessing original or inherent authority.
In other words, I share my vision to improve on the original subject but keep true to originality, honesty and integrity.
In life, there is so much we need to filter through to find what is authentic.
Because sources we listen to sometimes take their vision or expression too far or to the point of deciding what they think we need to hear.
It's good to listen to what they say but, keep our eyes open, as Pope Francis recently Tweet:
"The most radical antidote to the virus of falsehood is purification by the truth."
Luckily, the internet makes this easier to do.

Though this tree seems to be going from green to brown, there seems to be some trying to be colorful.

Many times the key factor of a great photograph comes from it having strong composition. Yes, the story is important but, without strong composition the story gets lost I think.
The inspiration for it came to me when I was out for a walk with my wife and dog, and saw this out from the corner of my eye. The story here is that I love how this moment says new life that brings hope. The colors are catchy and a favorite of many.
I used negative space composition, which is a basic, but often overlooked principle of design, that gives the eye a "place to rest," increasing the appeal through subtle means. This together with the square format, makes this suitable for framing with a wider matboard.
This image is a part of my Phoneography Project that you may know I've been doing to produce images that have been put through its paces by a forty-year professional lensmen.
I made this with an iPhone 5s, with the Flcikr App camera, and processed also with the Flickr App.

These three photos were taken on the first morning we arrived at Myrtle Beach. I had intended to get up for sunrise, but it was supposed to be raining, so I slept late after our long drive. Once I awoke to the beautiful blue skies, I wished I would have gotten up to check on the sunrise. It may have been terrific with those clouds. Or it could have been a disappointment. I guess I will never know now.
This is the first time I have posted any photos from my iPhone 6S and also the first time I have directly uploaded from the 6S through the Flickr app. These are straight off the iPhone's standard camera.
I had been hanging onto my iPhone 4 in hopes that they would bring out a new smaller version since I really wasn't enthused about the larger size of the 6 and 6S. However, my old phone was behaving so badly, I had no choice. About two weeks after I upgraded and signed a contract, Apple announced the SE was being released. Sigh. Oh well.
