Porterbrook-owned Class 769 'Flex Train' No. 769434, previously Class 319 EMU No. 319434, stands in the Great Central Railway's Leicester North station on 5th November 2018. This is a standard Class 319, but now with underfloor engines beneath both driving trailers so that the train can operate on both electric and diesel power, hence then 'Flex' name. Testing is being conducted on the GCR prior to the unit being formally handed over to Northern in the near future. A total of 8 units are heading for service with Northern, a further five, again in bi-mode, for Transport for Wales and a further nineteen tri-mode units (overhead, diesel & third rail) for Great Western Railway. I think the appeal of this camera is obvious. How many cameras do you see that have cream-colored enamel and a burgundy covering? As far as I know, the styling of this camera is unique. The burgundy covering is interesting in that it has two textures at once; it's a linen-like fabric with a pebbled texture. The pebbling is just about invisible in this photo, but can be seen in Travis Gray's photo, or in Rick Soloway's photo.
Although it says "Photo Laboratories" on it, McKeown's Price Guide puts this camera under the heading of Monroe Sales Company, so I'm guessing they were the distributors. It doesn't say Monroe anywhere on the camera itself.
The Color-Flex takes 127 film and was made c1947.
The ever-present 37884 tows a former GWR Flex set 769922 through Daresbury on a cloudy 3rd October 2023. The working was 5Q08 0945 Long Marston to Kilmarnock conveying the set for, well who knows what at the Barclay works!
The Flex thing never worked out for GWR, with 19 of the units being planned for introdution in Spring 2019. The tri-mode sets were to have worked around the Thames Valley area but less than favourable reliability was a big issue and seemingly the DfT insisted that GWR cancel the lease. as part of overall savings expected to have to be made by all TOCs.
Another chapter in our race to the bottom....
The Flex-Foot Cheetah is a prosthetic human foot replacement currently produced by Össur. Unlike all previous foot prostheses, the Flex-Foot stores kinetic energy from the wearer's steps as potential energy, like a spring, allowing the wearer to run and jump. About 90 percent of amputee Paralympics runners use a variation of the original Flex-Foot design, as well as thousands of athletes around the world.

This has been a project I've been working on for a little over a month now. With my growing interest in bionics has also developed into an interest in prosthetics in general. The Flex-Foot is one of the few non-mechanical prosthetics that caught my interest. But enough about all that jazz.
This doesn't completely stick to the Flex-Foot design, I wanted to choose usability over appearance so I used battle-droid feet to make it so the legs could connect to studs. I than took some battle-droid arms, cut off the hands, and modded them to give the blade look. And than I just cut some normal lego legs in half. I was thinking about painting some yellow trimming on it but decided just to stick with the standard look. I was also considering trying to paint some kind of logo on both of them but just thought it'd be impossible.
I might revisit them eventually, seeing as throughout the month I've been working on them I've found they're delicate as all hell, so I'm still trying to find a way to make them a lot more sturdy. Also I realized after painting that the left leg is slightly bent in, so that's another thing I'll need to touch up.
I had not met Sammy before this shoot; never talked to her, knew nothing about her. She showed up for the shoot and my camera fell in love with her immediately. Her eyes are amazing, as is her personality. We had a great shoot - and this was the first of many. Sammy is now one of my best go-to models. Always full of adventure and willing to try almost anything. What a lovely find. I took these photos in a dirty alley in downtown Boise in February 2022.

"Have ya ever wondered how we Charr stay in such great shape?
Well it's a requirement for one, Bhuer, Rytlock and the other Tribunes would have our tails if we didn't. Even though I no longer live in Tyria, I still have to be battle ready in case I'm recalled for duty. To do that we have to train, and train hard. Since I'm a Warrior class, that means boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, archery, hammer and sword training, and rifle training. You name it, we (have to) find time to do it.
So that photo above? That's my tired & sweaty ass after a couple hours pushing iron, chest and back day to be exact. A friend of mine, who just so happens to own the gym took a quick video afterwards, and wanted me to share it with ya'll. Want more? Let me know and I'll let him know next time I'm in the gym.
Now I'm off for a nice long shower, a couple beers, and a big juicy steak."

47815 approaching Crewe near Weston hauling Northern 'Flex' bi-mode 769448 from Loughborough Brush to Allerton Depot. These units have been created by adding a pair of MAN diesel engines to a 319 emu. As with most 'new' stock, their entry into service has been much delayed.
Originally scheduled to run via Stafford and the WCML, a late VSTP change saw the train run via Stoke and Kidsgrove. It was 30 mins late here but it's less than 15 mins from home on the bike; using Traksy a well timed rendevous was straightforward. 47815 is wearing recently applied 'Thank You NHS' vinyls and 37800 was tagging along at the back. 17th April 2020.
