I like the shot of Fletch that I posted last week, but I felt it was missing something. Tried it in B&W but it has washed out colours to begin with so it didn't make much difference. I'm not normally a fan of textures added on top of an image, in fact I usually hate them, but I decided to give it a go, along with practicing some channels masking and got this.
Still not overly sure, but I think I prefer it slightly over the original.
What do you think?

The edge of a 5 inch, parabolic fletching [feather] used when making archery arrows and taken in response to the Macro Mondays group weekly theme "Edges". In the event it didn't make the cut but was a close runner-up! :)
Had to add some grime here. The craft store feathers looked too cartoonish. Painting with matte acrylic will help them keep shape and not get destroyed at a convention

Fletcher is hot. He is getting the finger and the shocker in this one. What you don't see is BJ's reach-around.
As a break from snow pictures (and I was too hungry to brave walking far at lunch time)
Yesterday I made it along to archery after work. A couple of fletchings came off, so tonight, once repaired, I took a shot of it. wasnt sure which end to have in focus, but went for the nock / fletchings, as without it didnt quite make sense

On Sunday we packed up the idiomobile and made our way to the Whitecross Street Party to paint for the second time (thanks to Teddy for inviting us back again) and what a day we had. To say the sun was out is a bit of an understatement to say the least, one half of id-iom was certainly feeling the effects after having a little too much fun the evening before. That said at least we managed to finish the piece even if it was with sweat running down our faces like Niagara falls.
For this piece we decided to go with a girl in the colours of the Joker. I can't tell you why though because i had nothing to do with this design. Whilst the other half of id-iom was busy designing, cutting and getting ready for Whitecross, I was sunning myself in Mallorca on a cheeky little 4 day holiday.
Some of the other artists involved over the weekend included: Mydog sighs, Miss Wah Wah, Fletch, Leeks, Parlee, Nathan Bowen, Zadok, Dep, Airborne Mark and Jimmy C (to name but a few).
As is always the case when a bunch of artists are kicking around the same street corner we all end up getting a little giddy. My case in point is the electrical junction box that was situated just next to where we were all painting. We'd put Poet Mouse on it last year and I was glad to see it was still there. Once that had been noticed everyone decided to get in on the action. Oooops!!
Cheers
