San Francisco Fleet Week 2016 finished with a bang on Sunday, with another spectacular airshow, featuring (among others) the Bretling Jet Team, The Patriots, and the Blue Angels, who were competing to see who could get the most "wow" moments with the crowd!

This was the airshow that almost wasn't - Karl the Fog owned the day. Yes we got to see a few planes through gaps in the fog, but it was a very subdued event, with over half of the planned performances not happening at all, and with very scaled back displays from those that did.
Whenever we could actually see a plane through the fog I took photographs in the hope of getting something...
On a typical Fleet Week flying day I can easily shoot over 5,000 photos of planes in action. The shots in this album are the "best"(?) of around 400 taken all day.

A closer look at the Fleet-Wing building in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Fleet-Wing was a brand of gasoline that was started by Ralph Spears in Wheeling, West Virginia in the early 1920s. The company has the dubious honor of introducing leaded gasoline to the market, damaging the brains of millions for decades. In 1928 Fleet-Wing was purchased by Sohio.
PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 20, 2010) -- Hull Maintenance Technician Fireman Apprentice Anthony Fleeman grinds off safety hazards in the ship's hangar bay aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). Carl Vinson and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 are currently on a three-week composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) followed by a deployment to the 7th and 5th Fleet areas of responsibility.
