The junction of Bridge Street and Fleet Street. The habit of closing of vast swathes of the pedestrianised street to encourage a cafe culture, even in sub-zero temperatures, is a recent affliction.

HILO, Hawaii (April 12, 2012) The Pearl Harbor-based guided missile frigate USS Crommelin (FFG-37) visits Hilo to participate in the 49th annual Merrie Monarch Festival. USS Crommelin sailors will have the chance to attend hula competitions and participate in the Merrie Monarch Royal Parade in downtown Hilo. On the 26th September I finally visited this museum. After seeing it many years living in the south of England I had never been to visit it. Even though I was in the Royal Navy myself. The Fleet Air Arm Museum RNAS Yeovilton,Ilchester, Somerset. BA22 8HT is devoted to the history of British naval aviation. It has an extensive collection of military and civilian aircraft, aero engines, models of aircraft and Royal Navy ships ( including aircraft carriers ), and paintings and drawings related to naval aviation. It is located on RNAS Yeovilton airfield, and the museum has viewing areas where visitors can watch military aircraft ( especially the helicopters ) take off and land. It is located 7 miles ( 11 km ) north of Yeovil, and 40 miles ( 64 km ) south of Bristol. The cafe area was a bit like it was detached from the rest of the museum and I found staff there quite hard work, I went in at 03.00pm and they said they had no hot food they were closing in 15 minutes! Even though the opening time on the website said ~ Please note our Restaurant will open everyday unless otherwise stated, ( there were no signs otherwise ) 0930-1700 for the duration of our summer opening hours. The staff on reception in the Museum were great, helpful also. Sadly after waiting so long to visit this place I found it all a little tired and lacking interest in the place like Haynes International Motor Museum I went to last week.
The history of the Royal Navy is preserved for the benefit of today's and future generations by the National Museum of the Royal Navy ( NMRN ) which includes four museums of the Royal Navy ( NMRN ) Portsmouth & HMS Victory, Royal Navy Submarine Museum, Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Royal Marines Museum. Together they tell the story of the Royal Navy - on the Sea, under the Sea, in the Air and on the Land.
As much an attraction as it is a museum, the Fleet Air Arm Museum is where Museum meets theatre. You’ll fly by helicopter to the replica flight deck of the aircraft carrier HMS ARK ROYAL where you‘ll see fighter aircraft and two enormous projection screens showing a Phantom interceptor fighter and a Buccaneer strike bomber. You’ll experience the thrills and sounds of a flight deck, and feel the wind in your hair so to speak and will even see a nuclear bomb! The Museum has the largest collection of Naval aircraft anywhere in Europe and the first British built Concorde which you can go on board and view the cockpit.

Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011 has formally kicked off with a public Open Day at the Rockhampton Showground. The Open Day saw the 1RAR Band and Australian Federation Guard perform alongside the US 7th Fleet Band, demonstrating the interoperability of the two military forces that Exercise Talisman Sabre aims to strengthen. The Open Day also showcased a wide array of static displays from Australian and US participants as well as other Australian Government agencies such as AusAID the Australian Federal Police, the Asia Pacific Civil-Military Centre of Excellence and the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service. More than 22,000 Australian and US personnel will participate in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011, which will see personnel and assets from the Australian and US Navy, Army and Air force as well as the US Marines training in six Defence training areas in Central and Northern Queensland and the Northern Territory, with maritime forces exercising in the Coral, Timor and Arafura Seas.
