Table textiles and housewares such as dinner sets, flatware and glassware

Wonderful retro forks and knives for your consideration. Handles are carved and decorated with gold overlay (over carvings), but most of it is rubbed off. Carving still remains though :)

These are perfect for children's birthday or tea parties :) There are 8 forks and 8 knives total which makes 4 sets in pink and 4 sets in green.

Each piece measures approx. 10.5 cm

If you decide you can't live without them you can get them in my Etsy shop:

we dressed up our usual dining table for a little dinner party last week - i didn't think this glass top would fit in our tiny eat-in kitchen but timothy knew it would so we tried it out and I fell in love, we haven't moved it since

These silver knives line up with pride (despite their nicks and dents) in their flatware chests, protected by the aged flannel liner. Monogrammed with paternal grandparents' initials, they serve as a family tribute dating more than 100 years. If only they could tell their stories...

Though they may lose appreciation through the next generation, their stories and all of the present and future ones beg preservation and 'passing on'. Are all of our stories worth telling? Only the future will determine the answers, but if they are not documented, there will be no record from which to make that evaluation. There are so many ways to tell our stories these days - make it a part of your ritual! Naples, FL

Re-purposed Series

found flatware handles, sterling silver, silk, pearls

Origin: United States. Circa: 1860. Period: 19th Century. A truly stunning 13 piece, Wood & Hughes, partial gilt coin silver dessert set, which comes in its original antique fitted case. The Wood & Hughes set is from New York and dates to the 1860s. all pieces are in great condition, marked by the silver maker: W & H. The centerpiece of the set, or pie server, has a beautiful ornate engraving of an abstracted organic leaf-like pattern. Another special thing about this set is the engine-turned texture featured on the circle finial on both the spoons and server. The details on this set are impeccable. The pie server measures 101/2 inches long and weighs 13.85 troy ounces. The service comprises of 13 pieces in total- 1 pie server and 12 dessert spoons. The set was originally from the Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Harold Ecklund, Des Moines, Iowa. This silver dessert set is a wonderful gift, which is in great condition for its age. Its original fitted case (measuring 13 1/2 by 12 inches) has a blue satin and velvet interior, which has some wear but still holds and looks quite elegant. The outside of the case has some more noticeable wear. There are two small latches at either side of the case, one of the two latches remains in perfect working condition and holds the case closed tightly. There is some minor rubbing in the gilt bowls, barely noticeable, but indicates the set has been lightly used before.

Wood & Hughes became especially known for its sterling tableware and ornamental flatware with floral, and classical motifs, as can be seen on the pie server. Wood & Hughes emerged on the silver scene back in 1845 after Jacob Wood and Jasper H. Hughes broke away from the original parent company, Gale, Wood & Hughes. A great addition to a silver collection. Makes wonderful gift, especially on birthdays or holidays, when desserts are in order! Shop@ The HighBoy.
