Guam, the subsidiary from Continental on Guam, name on back, 14cm

These increasingly hard to find Victorian era olive forks (especially in pairs) are absolutely beautiful. The ornate designs running the full length of each handle is known as the “Columbia” pattern. They are stamped on the reverse of the handle “1847 Rogers Bros MI” The stamped “1847” does not indicate the year of manufacture – it represents the line of flatware that was one of the most popular lines the company ever produced. This particular pair of olive forks dates to sometime in the late 1800’s during Victorian times. The name Rogers Bros. was first used in 1847. In 1898, they became part of the International Silver Company.

I just love this set ! So pretty !

We made up a Lemony Broccolini and Cacio e Pepe Orzo pasta for dinner, We had most of the ingredients we got from our last Trader Joe's run. It came out delicious. My wife pan-fried some Italian breadcrumbs for a topping.

The silver was my paternal grandparents' (or great-grandparents'?), but I suspect the box containing it is from much later. This is the inside of the lid.

I love this design--the Mondrian-y composition, the typefaces, and the way the serving spoons are housed in the little slots. So cool and classic.
