The "original" version of this chair- with more ornate back legs-
was my very first Chair/Piece of Steel Furniture I created in 1993 for
The Chicago Celebrity Chair Auction- organized and run by the late, great Mary McCaul (formerly Mary Goodwin).
This edition is one of several I created at the request of a Showroom/Gallery owner to reduce the
risk of someone tripping over the scrolls on the back legs- which led to this modified version!

MOMMAS SILVER....Found this at a thrift store and it took my breath away because this was like my mothers silver ware that I grew up with and haven't seen in years. Was flooded with nostalgic moments and since I did the dishes every night I sorta bonded with the silver.....ahhh, all those hours at the sink. Mother passed a long time ago and this just brought back wonderful memories of her. silly but true.
Our Daily Bread Pewter Butter Knife with Custom Wooden Box.
Hand Made by Michael Ricci
The model for this knife was made from hand-carved wood, lace, metal, and clay. Then I made a mold of that and cast the final piece in lead-free pewter and gave it an antique patina finish. I carefully shaped the handle for a nice, comfortable grip. The box is also hand made and custom fitted for the knife to fit snugly inside on a plush, velveteen bed. An "Our Daily Bread" pewter plaque adorns the lid so the box doubles as a decorative piece you can display on a mantle or shelf. This is truly a unique piece and only a limited number will be made. It's a perfect wedding or house warming gift that will be treasured for years.
In Japan there is a saying that goes "There is shelter enough if it protects from the rain, food enough if it staves off hunger." When we recite the words, "Give us this day our daily bread" we're not asking for a weeks worth of groceries or a several course meal at a fine restaurant. We are asking for only what we need to satisfy our hunger for the day-our daily bread-and nothing more. Using this knife on a daily basis will remind us how often we have so much more than we really need, and that we should count our blessings each and every day and be grateful for our daily bread that sustains us and keeps us alive and happy.
Knife measures 8 inches long. Box measures 9 1/4" long X 3" deep X 2" high
