First and Finest - Heroes Work Here. COVID-19 Response. Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) Branch Health Clinic (BHC) is being recognized by Capt. Kai Torkelson, commanding officer for NNSY, for their vital assistance provided during the COVID-19 response. Led by Cmdr. Scott Welch as the shipyard’s COVID-19 Response Team medical subject matter expert, the BHC has ensured ongoing alignment with CDC and BUMED guidance, and assisted the NNSY team with tracking and assisting personnel affected by the virus.
Their efforts have greatly assisted NNSY in its dual objectives of minimizing the spread while maximizing the mission.
In addition, the COVID-19 testing staff at NMCP has provided outstanding testing assistance allowing a significant amount of personnel, who tested negative, to return to work earlier, thus mitigating production impact.
The great efforts put forth by the personnel at NNSY proves that #HeroesWorkHere at #NMCPFirstandFinest.
