The first time I have photographed the morning flask at Lydd Town and my first pair of 68s as well.On a lovely June morning 68 018 and 68 030 are seen in the platform at Lydd Town Station (closed 6th March 1967) awaiting the Train man to walk up after shutting the gates behind the train. Leaving Crewe at 0103 they are seen here at a more social time off 1000 and only have a short distance to travel to their destination of Dungeness.
Direct Rail Services Class 57s 57305 "Northern Princess" and 57301 cruise through Barnt Green with the 13:53 (2 early) early 6M56 Berkeley C.E.G.B to Crewe Coal sidings (Drs) nuclear flask flat. This working hasn't run loaded in a long time and even more unusual was the fact that the train in the preceeding block was also a flask train...
I saw my brother do his 365 days project and i thought why not try it but a little less than 365 coz by then i would've ran out of ideas, so i started the 52 weeks project here's my first photo of the week :)

Direct Rail Services class 68's 68026 and 68023 'Achilles' thrash through a sunny Wallyford Station with the Thursday morning 6S43, 0623 Carlisle Kingmoor - Torness Power Station nuclear flask train.
Oooh! Berekley flasks are running 2 days in a row! Passing Slindon 80 minutes early and not showing any signs of slowing down! 57002 and 37259 pass Slindon working 6M56 the 13:41 Berekley - Crewe nuclear flask train 11/8/15
88009 and 88010 provide the traction for the 6M38 Torness-Sellafield flasks on Friday 29th June 2018.
In recent months this service has been a regular via the Tyne valley rather than it's previous routing of Carstairs and the WCML. With the train passing this area around 16:45 there was just enough time to depart work and beat the traffic to get to a suitable spot.
The location is Merryshields just east of Stocksfield station.

As the barriers start to lift at Markle Level Crossing we see the Flasks bound for Torness pass. 68025+68016 are working 6S43, 0623 Kingmoor - Torness on the 21st March 2018. They are seen passing here at 0952. This was the fourth freight on the section between Dunbar and Monktonhall Junction in the morning between 0700 and 1000, very rare nowadays !
On a dull, damp one in April 2009, DRS pairing of 37602 & 37218 had a single FNA in tow forming the 6M56 13:41 Berkeley to Crewe Coal Sidings when recorded at Stoke Works.

A flask is being transferred from road transporter to an FNA flatrol via an overhead crane in the Torness Nuclear power station compound near Barns on 1 December 2011. 57008 and 57010 (out of shot) are in attendance.
The 50te AGR Mk A2 flasks were similar in appearance to the older generation of cuboid designs but they did have some marked visual differences - aimed at protection of their lid seals - and it can be seen here why - when operators at Sellafield first encountered them - they nicknamed them “batflasks”.
Unusually the bank holiday weekend was accompanied by both sunshine and some Tyne Valley freight.
The weekly Seaton-Sellafield flasks maintained it's Monday schedule and although the morning eastbound run was accompanied by rain and cloud the afternoon return ran in sunshine.
The two semaphores in the distance are controlled from Haydon Bridge signal box.
37688 'Kingmoor TMD' and 37716 approach Haydon Bridge following a signal check for the level crossing with the 6M60 Seaton to Sellafield on the 2nd May 2016.
With an afternoon off in hand I noted that the Seaton-Sellafield flasks was running (with an outbound service from Carlisle to Seaton having traversed the Tyne Valley in the morning).
The weather was sunny so I headed out to Stocksfield to pick up the return working.
As is traditional with such matters the sun went in a few minutes before the train went through (and remained firmly behind cloud until after this and the light engine movement in the opposite direction had passed).
No matter - With 66's looking to have picked up the RHTT work on the Tyne Valley this year it's a chance to get some 37's on freight work. 37259 heads 37602 with the 6M60 Seaton to Sellafield on the 8th October 2015.

As a counterbalance to a previous offering here we see Class 68 locomotives Nos. 68002 Intrepid and 68004 Rapid speeding away from Chelvey Bridge in North Somerset with 6Z74, the 05:25 Crewe Coal Sidings (Drs) to Bridgwater F.D empty flask working on Thursday 14th May 2020.
The flasks in question are on their way to Hinkley Point power station in Somerset, where they will be loaded with spent nuclear fuel rods before returning to the reprocessing facility at Sellafield in Cumbria.
This working, which at the time of this photograph was running twice a week, has run infrequently since early June, if at all. But now, strangely enough, it has suddenly appeared again this very day.
37610 and 20308 work 6M67 13:03 Bridgewater - Crewe 5south towards Pleck Junction (behind an industrial unit on Regal Drive, Pleck, Walsall)
Heavyweight 37716 and 37218 run through Kirkby-in-Furness station on 24 April 2017 with 6K73, the 1723 Sellafield – Crewe.
The heavy freight class 37/7 was created in the 1980s by regearing them and replacing generators with new alternators etc. Ballast was added, taking them up to 120 tons to improve their adhesion. The additional weight is of no particular benefit to DRS and impairs the locomotive’s Route Availability but they are still considered really useful engines as demonstrated here with 37716 still in front line service.
