Self portrait with DIY ring flash.

Taken in a studio using studio flashes to freeze the action of dancers making dance forms while in the air.

I am holding my Macro Flash ring with four speedlights.

The inspiration for this came from a Nikon flash booklet.

Middle in the day.

As succeed using SB-900 speed light last night, i am still excited in using it through the night out tonight. The speed light was keep flashing my balcony just now. There are another reason why I captured myself today. I found there was a good foundation from Biotherm!! It was a small pack as gift when I purchased other products from Biotherm Homme. The color fits me so much!! You could tell from my face!

NOTE: I didn't do anything on the file by PHOTOSHOP or other software!

Dabbling with a lightbox and flash. I have been wanting to learn this for ages, but thanks to a generous friend, I had a chance to play around a bit. Thanks to my lovely model for her patience. Any constructive comments would be welcome.

Flash stars were photoshopped in and duplicated on themselves to make more points.

I had spoken to the couple during the consultation meeting and they were very keen to have this style of shot with the flash used behind them so after taking a couple of "safe" shots I put the YN622 on the camera and used my 580 ex ii as a pass through to light them from the front. A YN565 was triggered on the lighting stand that you can unfortunately see quite clearly behind them (something to work on for the future).

All had to be done manually as I wanted control from the back of the camera so the 580 ex ii was on 1/4 power and the Yn565 was on 1/64th power - bare, no diffuser

Flash is available for adoption in Northern Virginia, USA, through HART .

Flash and Tigger were adopted from HART as a tiny kittens. They are about 7 years old now. Their humans got divorced and left them behind. Flash is a sweet, gentle soul who is a bit shy about all of these big changes in her life.

Who says you can't use a camera-mounted flash with a 10mm fisheye ?!

On our way back to Toronto from Fort Lauderdale we had a chance to watch an Impressive show put by Mother Nature. Somewhere near Pittsburgh.

With faded, flat paintwork and a big old dent in the side this ZX didn't look particularly flash. Still loads of these about, ditto the 306, it was only the condition of this one that made me photograph it.

It is very dark under the apple tree , so I reluctantly strapped on my brand new (almost 2 year old and never been used) flash

New setup with flash leds.

LEDs allow you to flash much faster one after the other without limitation. The Nikon flash SB80-DX had a minimum waiting time between flashes of 45 msec. With leds, you can flash as fast as you want up to the usec range. I retrieved my existing microscope SPI interface. It is equipped with up to 5 high power LEDs and each LED is set to 100W. The flash time can be controlled via the SPI interface which is renewed every 10 usesc. The smallest flash time is 10 usec. I first had the flash ring with 4 leds on top but that was not good because your camera is at the front. Now the setup has changed as shown on the picture so the light is quite good. The flash time is with 400W only 60 usec with the macro 60mm lens at F16. The flash distance is about 180mm.

The TXT controller of Fischertechnik controls the whole thing. The program used is the Robopro. The motor that brings the balls is controlled by the TXT, the camera is controlled by the FPGA. The necessary parameters are transferred via I2C. On the PC everything is nicely adjustable and controllable.

The camera is the Nikon D7100 and together with the software ControlMyNikon, the images are transferred directly to the PC where they can be seen online in full resolution. I use 2 UHD screens next to each other, one screen shows your settings of Robopro TXT, the other ControlMyNikon with all camera settings and the incoming image.

Roaming around Millennium Park last Thursday evening and trading photos with the tourists. I think the guy did a pretty good job!

The other day after playing airsoft with some friends, I had to give Mike Steffen (a fellow grad student in Dr. Bonett's lab, we both are aspiring herpetologists) a try with my two pistols. He's thinking of getting a nice simple single-action like my Heritage sixgun, and seemed to like it best. Naturally since it was dusk aiming was a little challenging, but it made for some nice muzzle flash photos!

This is the first time I've put my kit lens back on since my Sigma 10-20 arrived. But it was mucky outside from all the snowmelt and we spent the day doing things not conducive to lens health, like shooting plastic BBs and splashing around, so I figured I'd keep the expensive lens off!

Also, between airsoft and shooting the .22s (only fired off around 80 rds., a pretty quick session) one of the departing airsoft combatants got very stuck on the shoulder/ditch so I had to pull him out with my father's little Kubota tractor. It's really a blast, I think of it like a giant Tonka truck. Toys for grown-ups! Of course it looked pretty funny, since I was still wearing camo (facepaint and all). Check out the photo below.
