Joyeux anniversaire
Aujourd’hui c’est l’été, et mon anniversaire
Solstice souffreteux, astre séchant le cœur
L’amour a bien vidé mes dernières artères

Mary is such a good listener... and she loves a good hug. When any of us need a sympathetic flappy ear or two, Mary is always there with her adorable smile <3

This is the picture I originally wanted to post for my daily shot, however I took it on my Canon 700D and couldn’t find the lead to transfer to PC.
So I ended up uploading a photo I wasn’t really happy with.
Now I’ve managed to download this one and had to get rid of the original.
Taken at Saltwell Park, Gateshead

Cosmo and Wanda - our cats - have been very attentive and around since our poor Flappy had to be put to sleep. We have two great cats for sure.
After a cancelled photoshoot in a 10,000 Litre water tank where the heating broke down, I found myself at a loose end with no "Plan B" as I'd looked forward to the photoshoot all week. Desne was also due on the same shoot and also free. So it made sense to get together and take a trip to my favourite abandoned building.
With Desne expecting to attend an underwater photoshoot, she had a suitcase full of flappy, flowing dresses. Not necessarily the right outfits for a drafty, cold derelict mess. But I like to improvise, or put another way make it up as I go along and we bagged quite a lot of images.

The Greater Hoopoe-lark (Alaemon alaudipes) formerly known as the bifasciated lark (because its tongue is bifid at the tip.) is a breeding resident of arid, desert and semi-desert regions from the Cape Verde Islands across much of northern Africa, through the Arabian peninsula, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
It gets its name from the slow flappy start to the song flight, which resembles a hoopoe.
These birds, like most desert species, are capable of living in hostile conditions, so need to be able to regulate their body heat, and water loss, which of course varies with temperature. During the heat of the day, they may shelter in the burrows of Spiny-tailed Lizards, another strategy to regulate its temperature.
...yurting in the rain.Well, the incessant dampness anyhow. There is a flappy thing that covers the vents in time of rain. Like that's forever then.....
In a period of time distant from ours, in a remote corner of far flung space, an idea was born. An idea that would change the way humans would look at the galaxy, and everything in it.
The idea goes something like this.
Phase one: GO TO SPACE.
Phase two: DISCOVER THINGS.
Phase three: PROFIT?
It was a foolproof plan, a plan that could hardly fail.
As such, Si-industries was born. A corporation tasked with creating the finest in space traveling technology and equipment.
First off the production lines was the Catfish, a chubby and unfortunately disaster prone craft that, even after four iterations, was still terrible.
Wave five brought with it the Lionfish, and the Tigerfish. Two craft that could rival even the most expensive models of racing craft in speed and agility.
With a fascination for puke green, and retractable flappy bits, the Tigerfish's designer was hailed as a genius innovator within the company for years, before it was realized that he borrowed the design cues and tech from SF3D laboratories and failed to credit them whatsoever.
The Tigerfish was a favorite among the classic-space fleet, particularly the jockeys that were on muscle stimulants who had an urge to shout somewhat random things while going way too fast

It's a Battery-Powered Four Wheel Cross Surface Driving Device, but because BPFWCSDD is so difficult to pronounce (especially when drinking coffee), I called it a Bat-Quad.

Flappy sleeping on Sunday February 5, 2017. I think there is someone watching him - its the great beagle pillow that Jeremy and Michael got me for Christmas.
It is over freezing today for the first time in...well, a LONG time. I think Flapjack the beagle shows us just what being around freezing feels like. Playing in the snow today in Saline, Michigan
A starling stands on a rooftop and flaps its wing to get attention ,presumably, from the lady starlings.
Flapping with Happiness!!!! .... flappiness?
With droplets of water flying everywhere, this female North American Black duck was happy to see me and did a little dance to show it.
