Many others there were of usual color but this one was unique.

these guys got their pink colouration from their natural diet of blue-green algae and a specific type of brine shrimp in the wild.

In captive environment, they have to be fed with alternative supplements.

Wonder if they turn brown when fed with dark chocolate.

A picture, I've made at Zoo Heidelberg this summer

Part of an amazing flock of 19 wild American Flamingos currently calling Everglades National Park home. Taken 10 miles west of Flamingo in Lake Ingraham.

-Did you know that the word flamingo comes from the Latin word for flame.

-Egyptians revered the flamingo as the living embodiment of the sun god Ra.

-Romans considered flamingo tongue to be a delicacy.

-Flamingos stand on one leg to shift their weight to a more well rested leg.

The flamingos were tightly grouped together, resting, and I snapped a slightly unconventional image of their lovely feathers.

Found this flock of flamingos at an eco resort near Laguna Bavaro in Dominican Republic. Flamingos offer a lot compositional possibilities both together and apart. (Phoenicopterus ruber)
