Kind of a rough edit here, but it was a rush to get it done by Halloween last week.

By the way, the flame is out of focus in every picture on purpose.

Fireplace flames in winter taken with long exposure.

Taken January 2019

Flames of fire, dancing on the coals.

Some people burn candles...

“Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must first set yourself on fire.”

Love our natural gas fireplace. We can enjoy even on no-burn days.

sooc, i worked to get this less grainy than the first shots. GIVEAWAY WINNERS! I HAVE BAD NEWS.

I'm going to have to delay sending out the prints. This summer, perhaps late spring, I'll have enough time and money to finish them and send them out . Having two winners overseas is tough on me :( I'm also super busy with senior year and did not anticipate getting busier, bnut I have gotten way too busy.

so I apologize :(

... that shines for you ... :)

Today is Third of Advent and beeing december 13:th, in Sweden also the celebration of Saint Lucy's day (known as a patriot of the blind before her death).

The night between12:th and 13:th of december (in the pagan calendar said to be the longest and darkest night of the year, nowadays science says it's on the 21:st... :)) youngsters have a Lucevaka where they stay up all night to guard themselves from beeing taken away by Lucifer (or "blinded by darkness") .

If they still haven't been taken away when morning light comes, they are safe yet another year... :-)

Then the light is from early morning to late night of the 13:th celebrated through a procession lead by a young girl, representing Saint Lucy, wearing a crown of burning lights on her head bringing light and hope to every one ... :)

Decided to take a few shots in the dark tonight, using some fire.

Close-Up Photography

This is my first try of shooting a "burning start" of a flame. The left one is really ok for my opinion, but the right one not as I wanted it. But for a first try ..... I did just 5 tries and those are the best results. Made from RAW.

Orignal photo taken from my mobile.

In the Christmas season, when I was young, my brother and I used to have a wonderful time squirting orange peels into the flames of a candle. Squirt! and the flame would do all sorts of interesting things.

This set is an attempt to capture that experience photographically. It wasn't easy, because the flame effect is very quick.

The fire at a friends house before the fireworks with the sparks rising from the fire on a slow shutter speed.
