Amtrak AEM7 928 cruises through Elizabeth NJ in May 1982. Hard to believe these are almost gone now.
This light hangs in my office at home. I'm pretty sure it's original, dates from when the house was built. If so, it's 97 years old. The petals are milk glass, the central circle is clear pebbled glass, and it's topped off (bottomed off???) with a bullet-shaped brass nut.
Although a fixture in the yard and always ready to come for a hand feeding, Chickadees are not all that sociable with each other, especially where food is involved!
Origami ceiling/light fixture. Always worth taking a deeper look. #iwamotoscott #interiors #architecturalphotography
Just a random shot of a pool table light fixture over the kitchen island. When we built this house a few years ago, pendant lights were all the rage but I liked the iron work in this light fixture. As I was cooking dinner, I just placed my camera under it and shot away.
The Warner Centre is a former theatre and concert hall located at Fifth Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh
It was turned into an indoor shopping mall. There had been a food court that closed in 2003
his beautiful movie palace was a major theatre in Pittsburgh. It opened as the Grand Theatre on March 7, 1918 with Douglas Fairbanks in “Headin' South” and Winifred Westover in “Her Husband’s Wife”.
Renamed Warner Theatre on January 2, 1930. From October 1953, it was converted into a Cinerama theatre. It showed many of the reserved seat engagements during the 1960’s, such as "Ben-Hur," "The Alamo," "Exodus,
The auditorium was demolished, and a two story shopping center named Warner Center was built on the site. Today you can see the beautiful doors and a portion of the huge lobby which was retained. 216
I assembled this ceiling lamp shade from pre-cut flatpack pieces of thick translucent plastic. Very like assembling modular origami with no actual folding involved. If you try this, I highly recommend watching a few videos first. The real difficulty for me was attaching it. You have to leave one section out, insert the hanging bulb then finagle the last piece back in place essentially working blind. In my case, the ceiling was high and the fixture located nearly out of my reach on the ladder. Hopefully the bulb will never need changing!
Bekins takes a load off of your mind.
Moving heavy stuff or a fragile fixture,
A Bekins man is a moving picture.
We're the best-trained moving men around.
In the moving business Bekins men are pros
And prose means poetry
In moving!
Does anyone else remember this? The minute I saw this great old warehouse in Sioux City, the radio jingle from my childhood started playing in my head. Hadn't thought of it in ages, but remembered every word. Shows how effective they were as advertising! I loved this as a kid - and it still seems pretty clever, I think.
