Bandeirantes - como é mais conhecida - possui população fixa estimada em aproximadamente 11 mil habitantes. Com características rústicas, é um ponto turístico com potencial considerável, em função da beleza do rio Araguaia, a proximidade com a barra do rio do Peixe e alguns lagos de porte, os quais, em conjunto, oferecem uma diversidade ambiental propícia ao turismo ecológico, prática da pesca esportiva e de outros esportes aquáticos, camping e trilhas.
Dista em torno de 470 km. de Goiânia, por rodovia asfaltada (GO-164), com um relativamente pequeno trecho final não pavimentado.
Natureza ainda muito pouco tocada pelo homem, vem ganhando significado a partir de uma preocupação em ser montada uma infra-estrutura turística adequada, sem o comprometimento do meio-ambiente.
Tem sido objeto de interesse dos meios de comunicação, com reportagens interessantes, notadamente sobre os grandes cardumes que ocorrem todos os anos na região.

Sports clubs in communist East Germany were founded, runned and organized by the state, all united in the "East German Sports Organisation".
"Sportvereinigungen" (Sports associations) were sports agencies for certain economical branches and were also members of the state-runned Sports Organisation.
Later the Trade Sports Associations had been closed but existed under the name "Betriebssportgemeinschaft (BSG)" what means "Firm Sport Corporation".
The specific Sports association "Lokomotive" were the sports clubs of the Trade 'Railroad'.
