DAILY SHOOT: Today's number is 5. Make a photo that illustrates the number in some way, either literally or abstractly.
I was walking along the river in Stratford Ontario and noticed the lights on the other side. I shot on aperture priority with a long exposure which created the odd colours.
The first time I saw one of these things, I thought it was some kind of plastic artificial plant. They are very real! More gold, more "good fortune and wealth" for New Year celebrants.
UPDATE: This is called the five-finger fruit, or five generations plant. The thick end usually has five nodules on it, and traditionally it represents longevity. The Chinese consider it good luck, for instance, to have five generations living together.

Five-Lined Skink - juvenile
Morris County, New Jersey
I got to hang out with these cool little guys (adults + juveniles) for a while today. They were a bit timid, but also curious. They would come out and bask pretty close to me as long as I wasn't making many movements. However they seemed very sensitive to the shutter sounds as well as light from camera flash unfortunately.

Five teenagers engaging in a thrill ride on a roller coaster road died when the pick up truck they were riding in failed to make a turn in the road and struck a dirt embankment at high speed.
The five young people killed in the crash were André Hartwig, 18; Beau Miller-Lopane, 18; Chanda Scarber, 18; and Eric Prudhomme, 18, and his sister, Danielle Prudhomme, 15.
