You can see the bulge below the front panel which could have held a First Aid Kit.
This is, I think, a Police Post PA No 1. It is located at Bishopgarth, the West Yorkshire Police Training Centre in Wakefield.
I think these were produced between the 1930-60s. It could be used by the public and the light at the top flashed to aid response. During the war years a "black-out disc" was fixed above the light so that it would not be seen by enemy bombers. Some posts such as this carried a First Aid Kit in the panel below the call box.
There was no handset in these for the public, opening the door connected the phone automatically and you then just had to speak into the speakerphone inside. It ran on an Ericsson PA 150 Telecommunications system. The other two sides to the post contained a phone and a note tray, both for police use only.
For more views of a similar box, plus a blueprint of this design, see the Police Pillar - PA No.1 set of Star_Cross.

I finished decorating the outside of my Altoid First Aid Kit! I like how it turned out! I painted a few layers of white gesso on the top of the lid. then I cut out the red cross from red tissue paper and put it on with Mod Podge. I Mod Podged the whole lid to "seal" it. The only downfall with this method was that the red of the tissue paper started to bleed when the Mod Podge was applied. The words are done with a Sharpie marker.
