Absolutely loved driving these Scania L94's, along with the L113's that we had at Ipswich. I paused here alongside the river at Manningtree for a quick photo on an early Saturday morning journey into Mistley from Ipswich. First Eastern Counties 65588 (V588DVF) Manningtree 22nd May 2004

First ride earlier today. Love it. All the best elements of my Hilsen and LHT, there's gonna be a shuffling of the herd.
We had just fiished with our second batch of sauerkraut for the season, and Jean wanted me out of the kitchen.
So having no inclination to go sit at the computer, I asked her if I should go out looking for truffles.
Truffles are actually a mushroom. Subterrainian. That is to say they grow underground.
We had been out looking for them once before and found a false one. As they are some what rare, and Jean wanted me out of the house even if only for a short while, she said yes. Go look for truffles.
So I grabbed a side arm, and a basket and headed out to go scouting for likely spots to dig for them.
I may have been gone for 45 minutes, or perhaps even an hour when after turning the soil in several places, I finally found this one. It might not be much to look at, but it is a real truffle. An oregon white truffle. Even smelled a bit like garlic when I found it.
I put it in my pocket and headed back to the house then, counting my blessings I had actually found one.
As the last subterrainain mushroom I found looked similar to this one, I knew it might also be a flase truffle.
We had to slice it open to see if it was the real deal.
I was more than just a little thrilled to find it was one I had been searching for.
The marbling inside the mushroom is what gives it away. that and the smell.
So today I finally did something with it. I sliced it up farily thin and set it to steep in olive oil. In a week or so we will have Truffle oil to use in our food.
Then we shall see what all the fuss is about. And if we need to seriously go out hunting for more of them.
