Ormond Beach, Florida

....In the backyard where my normal fire pit is, we had a couple huge white pine top limbs during the storm last Monday get stuck high above it and on a maple tree next to it, creating a potential hazard if they come down below on us or dogs. Waiting for the busy tree trimmers to show up. So, in the meantime until then I used an old steel wheel, cleaned up & painted for a temporary pit.

I sautéed mushrooms & onions, grilled steaks today and my wife made the mash potatoes & creamed cucumber sides.

A summer evening with the fire pit. I placed the camera on a tripod, and used the 10 second shutter delay to make this self portrait.

A video pan from the look to the west, to the LED string lights on a tree in my yard, to the fire pit.

Warm and nice to watch and admire

Take one firepit, add a fall's accumulation of leaves and rain water, and allow it to freeze overnight.

"Ice Castle Fireplace" by Patti Deters. A mesmerizing fire blazes atop a frozen firepit platform surrounded by icy crystal formations. Imagine living in an ice castle, with towering spires and crystalline walls, kept warm and comfortable with beautiful fire places. Tall ice walls encircle the space, keeping the wind at bay. This image evokes a sense of mystery and enchantment, as if it were a magical scene from a fantasy tale. The ice castle-like structures in the background add to the enchanting atmosphere, making one wonder about the stories that could unfold in such a place. Thank you for viewing this image. I should probably throw this old firepit out, but I like the rust colors, and I don't have a lot of old stuff around the yard to photograph - so maybe I'll keep it around.
