From last April at La Caille Restaurant in Salt Lake. I posted one picture back then, but have a few more I really like. My daughter also took a lot of pictures. Had the whole family there. Great food, celebrated my Mom's 85th birthday, and had great fun with a photo shoot of my oldest granddaughter. I wrote a long write up about the place on the prior post. I'll put a link to that picture if anyone wants to know more about it. Plus, I like to do links so I can find the pictures without doing a search.

As we slide ever so gently into the month of October, I find myself closing the blinds shortly after dinner, and curling up by the fireside. A hush falls over the wilderness, and only the sound of an owl can be heard in the distance. A moose walks silently by our cabin window, and I marvel at how such a big beast can move about so quietly.
As I take yet another sip from my cup of warm cocoa - I reach out for my latest novel, and in the glow of the firelight, I get lost once again in the story of another time and place.

An early evening clearing storm casts some epic light on the Aztec Sandstone in Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. We were about to embark on the Fire Wave trail when the wind suddenly kicked up causing a local sandstorm, and then it started hailing so we ran back to the car. I really felt for the people staggering out of the trail; they were not dressed for this sort of event.

It's fall camping time at Fawke! Monte and I picked our spot, pitched our tent, and found time to enjoy a warm mug of cocoa and a crackling fire.
Firelight flickers, shadows cling to skin, and Nolan Rowley wears the cold like a challenge.
This is winter heat done right.
